Tomorrow I am a bridesmaid in my friends'' wedding and I am sick, and have been since Monday.

I''ve tried soooo hard to get better, really been taking it easy and getting as much rest as possible. It began as a chest cold and I''ve had a low-grade fever since Monday night. Today my nose won''t stop running. I am afraid I am going to be sniffleing all day and runing my makeup.

I know that it''s silly, but I feel like I am going to detract from her day by being sick. Or I am going to look ridiculous in the pictures. I just want to cry.

Anyone have a secret weapon to combat the common cold? I''m desperate.

Zicam rapid melt tablets... I swear by them. Don't get any other form on it (nasal swabs or spray)... only the rapid melts.

They taste terrible but they really work for me.

ETA. Since you've been sick since Monday do you think there's any chance it could be allergies? Or with a fever maybe you have a sinus infection or something that might need anitbiotics (obviously if you're certain it's only a cold you shouldn't take antibiotics). It might be worth seeing a Dr. if for no other reason than getting medicine that might work better than the typical OTC stuff.

Oh I''m sorry you''re sick sweetie!

Strangely enough I have found that apple cider vinegar helps me a lot. It''s easy and cheap so its worth a shot:

"COLDS
At the first sign of a cold, take 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in half a cup of water several times a day. The body becomes more alkaline during a cold and the vinegar will help to rebalance the body''s acid level. If you have a chest cold, a long-standing home remedy calls for soaking a piece of brown paper in vinegar then sprinkling one side of it with black pepper. Place the peppered side of the paper on the chest, cover with a towel, and relax for 20 minutes."

You can also made a kind of tea out of it by using hot water and adding a little honey and lemon. It''s not great but it didn''t make me want to gag either and it works wonders for a sore throat. I''ve never tired the brown paper and pepper thing I just found that on a website with ACV remedies.

I would tell the bride what''s going on. I would plan on walking down the aisle, standing up for her, and taking pictures, but leaving soon after. I sure wouldn''t want to risk making the bride sick for her honeymoon

Airborne 2-3 times a day. That stuff is like a vitamin bomb and I find it treats my congestion, etc better than most meds.

You might also want to get A & D if your nose is chaffed from blowing it. I find that heels the skin best and makes it feel better.

Green tea, lots of it. Water, too. Vitamins, tons of sleep tonight. And then take some kind of decongestant to help with the sniffles tomorrow.

I agree that I''d go for pictures and leave not too long after though. Like someone else said, you really don''t want to make the bride sick!

Oh gosh that stinks! Im sorry you are sick. I would suggest Zinc losenges but you are supposed to take those at the first sign of a cold. You are already in the cold so I don't think they will work.

Maybe try drinking some DanActive. Its supposed to boost your immune system. Ive had them before. Yeah, plenty of sleep. Try to rest as much as possible today.

Get well soon.

Try to stay away from dairy when you have a cold. It can make mucus thicker and harder to get rid of.

A&D is a great suggestion to get rid of reddness. To make it through the ceremony without being a sniffler I would try using a nasal spray intended to relieve congestion. Definately do not over use it and use it only to get through the ceremony. It should help to keep your nose clear for a little bit. Be careful with decongestants if you are apt to becoming drowsey from meds.

Sleeping with some Vicks Vapo rub could help to clear our your sinuses a bit. Two tylenol should help to combat that small grade fever. Get plenty of rest, lots of clear beverages and if you are going to the store, it may not be a bad idea to pick up some airborne for the bride and other members of her party so they do not get sick.

Feel better!

I just wanted to thank you ladies who responded... I did read your responses before the wedding but didn''t have enough time to reply.

So this is how it all went...

I was really sick on Friday night for the rehersal/rehersal dinner. I went to bed early but couldn''t fall asleep until after 4am due to a combination of excitment for the next day, being sick, and also being very upset that I wouldn''t make it through the wedding. When I woke up, thankfully I was much better! Everything went well and was beautiful. I am so happy for my friends and honored that I could be part of their day!
