Ok folks, I''m trying to make this as Dancing Fire-esque as I can.

We all love the finer things in life but what about those simple pleasures:

like a walk on the beach, collapsing in bed after a long day......... the smell of apple pie baking......

What are yours?

My children''s hugs :)

ooooh sevens....good topic!
with life so hectic these days, anything that i am able to do just for me, when i want, is a simple pleasure.
on the short list would be:

riding my horses. i can truly "get away from it all" when i go out for a ride. i am fortunate to live in an a beautiful, rural area in which to explore on horseback........automatic stress relief!!

reading. there aren''t too many books that i don''t just *love*. fiction, non-fiction, biography, even reference books are on my reading list.

of course apple pie always smells good!!!

One of my BEST simple pleasures is reading. With two kids around who make a ton of noise and also who continously compete for attention when I''m trying to do anything other than tend to them, an hour in the evening curled up with a great book is the ultimate luxury for me!

*My husbands touch
*Watching the sunrise and listening to the bird''s sing
*My nephew''s laugh
*A very cold Diet Coke

Wow – I can totally use a nice topic like this – THANKS!

Here’s mine:

The first warm sunny day after a long winter.

The first snowy day after a long hot summer

The way fall smells.

When my fiancé grabs my butt for no reason.

A good head butt from my cat

Doing someone nice or helping someone and not telling anyone else.

Climbing mountains

The sea at night

Snow high up in the mountains in the middle of summer

Reading completely useless things... anywhere

PS is not too bad either

I like this thread...

reading a new magazine (it''s just fun when they arrive)

giving myself a mani & a pedi & a facial

playing "cappy" with my kitties ella & joffery (involves the little plastic cap that comes on poland springs sport bottles- its like crack to them)

doing crosswords w/my bf

reading my niece kayla a book

hiking to nowhere or taking out my kayak at sunrise

Waking up in the morning because you want to, not because you have to.

Staying in bed on a rainy day with a nice book.

Having my cat "bless" me every time I sneeze. (she really does!) Everytime someone sneezes she goes, "Meow-row!", but if you pretend to sneeze, she gets mad and wont do it.

Sevens great thread

Here are mine:

Snuggling with my kids in bed on the weekends
Having my dogs jump up on the bed in the morning for good morning kisses
Baking cookies with my daughter
Walking on the beach
The smell of fresh rain in the spring
The hugs I get from my son when he gets home from school
Hearing my husband say he loves me each time he calls from work to check in with me
Long talks with my Grandmother

What a super thread. There''s so many things I love:

Free hugs and kisses from my son at any time of the day (especially when we cuddle in bed on weekend mornings).
Head butts from my cat with purrs loud enough to be called 1 cat power
Snuggling under the covers on cold mornings and just willing the day away.
Fresh hot waffles my hubby makes on weekends
The wonderful smell of grass and rain (springtime)
There''s just too many to list!

not in any particular order.....

the smell of fresh coffee in the morning

the warmth of summer sun on your skin

the way my husband looks at me when he says he loves me

the sound of a child''s laughter

dancing!

driving fast on the highway, windows down on a beautiful day

reading a good book

a long, hot shower after a hard day

the way you feel so much better after a long, hard cry

realizing that life is too short to be angry all the time........
28.gif

SLEEEEEEEP

Great topic!!

Simple things I love:

The smell of freshly ground coffee

Rainbows

The first barefoot walk in the grass after a cold drizzly spring

The smell of "earth" and "green" when it rains (I'm not sure if that makes sense to anyone?? **edited to say that I guess it does becuase others have mentioned it**)

every friday nite go out for a drink(s) and B.S with friends.

window shopping at the malls.

walk along the river.

listening to 60-70''s music

watch CNBC in the morning, see how much i lost in the stock market.

Peter''s laugh/word/touch at any given time.

I like this thread!

OK:

Warm sweaters/sweatshirts right out of the dryer (plus they smell so good..Downy!).
face23.gif

That goes for towels, too.

Lounging on the sofa with h2b and watching movies on a rainy day while all wrapped up in a fleece blanket (even sunny days) with the fireplace lit.

When the cat actually WANTS me to pick her up.

Freshly washed sheets and pillow cases (OK, I know I'm weird)...

Sunday afternoon naps in the spring when we can have the front and back doors open...it's so nice to get that cross breeze on the loveseat.
emthup.gif

Lighting my merlot scented candle.

Crashing onto big fluffy goose down pillows.

Opening the mailbox and finding jewelry catalogs
27.gif

Popping pop corn!

Cooking together and happy that it tastes better than anything we could get in a restaurant around here.

Wow, there's so many. I guess when I'm sitting around wishing that something 'exciting' would happen I should remember all the little exciting things that happen every day.

Treysar - I'm totally with you on the way fall smells and helping others and not 'tooting your own horn'.

Lot''s of warm and fuzzies just reading this thread
1.gif

A phone call or email from family/friends from UK ( I live in US) - they never fail to make me laugh

My hunny making me a cup of tea without being asked or bringing me a Dunkin Donut coffee after work

Watching dogs playing in the park (we live in an apt so can''t have one so I love watching dogs play!)

Getting People Magazine every Friday and laying on the couch with a gass of wine to read it after work

A hug from my friend Tina (she hates PDA''s so it means a lot when she does it)

Hearing a song I loved on the radio I haven''t heard in years and downloading it to keep on my ipod forever

Looking out of an aeroplane window - blows me away no matter how many times I fly

Chocolate

The anticipation of Bambi coming out on DVD ! (pathetic huh!?)

Wow - so many....it''s nice to put this down in words to appreciate these things more. Thanks for starting a great thread Sevens One!

Oh yeah, D4Me, you reminded me of a good one! Lighting candles, putting on jazz or classical music, having a glass of wine and dancing with DH in the living room! Oooh, and shopping for new cozy sweaters to wear in the fall

Awwwwwwwww...how romantic
face23.gif

You sound just like us. We do that all the time. We're such music freaks. There are times that I'm just walking through the house and he'll grab me out of the blue and twirl me around...it's so much fun...lol. I can't wait until he comes home!

Oh, more to add to my list!

Rushing to the door to greet him after work when he's coming up the steps and giving him a big ol' hug...even if he does have grout and mortar all over him and I'm in one of my suits. That's what dry cleaners are for!

Hearing my nextel walkie-talkie part chirp..I know it's him because he's the only one that has my radio number
face23.gif

For some unkown reason.....finding a quarter under the sofa cushions...odd, I know, lol.

Being the first one into the cheese after getting home from the deli
27.gif

Chamomile tea in the evenings.

Cherry flavored Chilly Willies!!!!
36.gif

Writing 'I love you' on the bathroom mirror with defogger stuff before he wakes up so when he get's out of the shower he can see it written on the fogged up mirror ( I know...I'm cheesy)..
emembarrassed.gif

Edited: Walking into a Subway with four full cards of stamps and walking out with two free foot longs and only having to pay for two sodas

I'm so cheap....hehehe

HI:

My son''s presence--and sense of humor
seeing the snow capped mountains from your backyard
crossword puzzles
my mother''s extraordinary cooking/baking
my husband''s ability to recall obscure data and comedic timing
my best friend''s magnificient garden
good neighbours

cheers--Sharon

What a wonderful thread! Here are my additions:

* The sound of a baby's laughter
* Falling asleep in a warm bed while listening to the gentle rhythm of falling rain chiming on the windowsill.
* Fingers running through my hair (my friend's little girl loves braiding my hair whenever I visit)
* Hugs!
* Daydreaming about a new trip
* Daydreaming about jewelry!
* Dancing across the floor as though I were floating
* Scent of vanilla in the air
* Family dinner
* Homecooked meal by the best cook in the world -- my mom

D4Me: LOL! my DH does the grabbing me and spinning me thing too!!
9.gif
I love it!

I have another one: the way Canadian and European people spelling things with "ou" ! Like ''colour'' and ''neighbours'' and so on! Obviously, Americans leave the ''u'' out, though I wish we didn''t. Why do we do that? Sometimes I try to spell that way on purpose. I''m a nerd.....
9.gif

Making shampoo mohawks when I help my kids wash their hair
The way they smell after their bath in their clean PJ''s
Settling on the sofa with popcorn to watch a movie with DH after the kids are sleeping

A great grilled sandwich - you can tell it''s near dinner time - top o'' the list

My Pups smile

My hubby''s laugh

Dancing

Reading a good mystery spy or adventure novel - pure escape

A nice long bath with some great bathsalts & a candle

Making a difference

Nan, this is a great idea!

Putting my face into my dogs'' bellies and just breathing them in
A REALLY cold beer with ice glazing the surface on a REALLY hot day
Watching Law & Order marathons with my husband and a $7 bottle of wine
Listening to my favorite songs
Sitting in my Florida room watching the snow fall and eating boxed chicken soup with extra noodles added

1.gif

The smell of sweet rich garden soil
Biting into a homegrown tomato still warm from the sun
Snuggling with my FH
Snuggling with my cats
Chocolate and a fine, fine red wine for dinner
multiple orgasms
Poking my head out of a tent in the morning and inhaling clean mountain air

When the dog bites,
When the bee stings,
When I''m feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don''t feel so bad.
