Baby monster, I don't know her answer, but I think studs at 2 cts+ need the security of more than three prongs. Her settings are perfection for those diamonds.
Thanks. I've been thinking about switching the settings because martinis don't work well for me but safety is something I'd need to think about when upgrading.

I didn't think martini's were for me, either, although I know some people love them. I just prefer an even number of prongs, for one thing! I went with low set 4 prong baskets because I have always liked the classic Tiffany settings. Mine are from Sasha Primak. But if I end up with larger studs, I might consider the ones that m2b has. My other thought is to keep the ones I have and get an OEC/AVR pair and set them in milgrain bezels or like Yssie's, but I am not sure I really need 2 pair of diamond studs. I still might do that with a smaller pair of OEC/AVR's, though.

Ugh, I want bigger earrings. I thought these were forever and told my husband that when I got them. He laughed at me. He was right. I've managed to almost double each pair of earrings since the first pair in 1999. I increased too much last time and I don't think I'll end up doubling them next time :( I'd love 2.8-3.3 ctw but know the top of that range will cost nearly double what the bottom of that range does. My first pair in 1999 were 0.18 ctw, 2003/4 was .33 ctw, 2008 was 0.71 ctw, and 2012 was the current ones at 1.6 to 1.7 ctw.

For the record, my e-ring, it's about 0.47 carats. I'm a rule breaker :) After battling for a bit I've come to the conclusion I'm not really bothered by engagement rings at the moment. My husband doesn't believe in upgrading and right now I'm okay with that. Diamonds on the hand feel too flashy and they get in the way. I most often wear my wide trinity ring and the 1.6 to 1.7 ctw earrings I own.

Haha, Rhea, you can make your own rules!

Yay! Very pretty!

loving every pair of studs on t his feed keep them coming.

I started out with mall studs that were .75ctw. When I graduated, I upgraded to the studs I have now. You guys are gonna kill me, but I can't remember if they're 1.2ctw or 1.3ctw. They're bezel set to give them a little extra OOMPH on my giant earlobes. I think they look great, I love them to bits. I'd like just slightly bigger, no more than 2ctw still in a bezel, but that's not in the cards.

I was very surprised that the .08 per stud made a difference... they didn't look all that different placed side by side in front of me, but when I put them in, I could definitely tell. I was able to trade the .44ctw pair in for the upgrade, which was the first time I had done that with my jeweler. A great way to spend a Tuesday in the cold city of Chicago. :appl:

oooh i love studs too. I started with 0.3 ctw, then upgraded to 1.2 ctw in 2009. When i wore these 0.6 ct in each ear, i felt they were a perfect size for every day wear til DSS set in, especially after meeting pheonix in person and seeing her 2.3 ct in each ear!

i had been thinking of upgrading for a while and went for 2.45 ctw just recently. My ear lobes are pretty small, and i think i can't go any bigger than these now... I'm very happy with it and though i thought they were very big when i first had them on, they seem to have settled down fine and seem alright now. My small ear lobes are what will keep me from going any bigger !

My 0.15 ct stud for comparison in size.

Apologies, i cant seem to rotate the picture!

 I'm repeating after you!!! I was happy with my 1 ctw until I visited this thread

My studs are .80 tcw - .40 ct each ear. They are beautiful & sparkly, but for the past few years I have wanted bigger. I have 2 issues with upgrading them. Firstly, my now husband then boyfriend bought me a .50 CTW floating pendant to match them a few weeks after we met for my Birthday, which I am very attached to, and secondly & more importantly, my parents bought me the studs for my 25th Birthday & we have since very sadly lost dad. I wear my 'set' almost every single day (the earrings only really come out to be cleaned, the pendant comes off if I am wearing statement beads etc), but as I have got older (I am 40 in June) I have craved slightly bigger. Currently I would need to trade in, so I am thinking of just leaving everything as it is until I can afford bigger without losing my precious original stones.
