Tadeo, I don''t have any input on your questions regarding the setting, but I do have input on the width of your proposed (sorry, no pun intended!) ring on your fiance''s small, long finger. My ring is 5 to 5.25 mm wide and my ring size is a loose 4.5. Finger is 3 1/4" long. I love the substantial look of the wide band. I chose a wide band to go with my stone because of the solid look it gives to the ring. I like what it symbolizes to me - solid ring, solid marriage. Not only is the band wide, but it''s also a bit "chunky"; that is, there is height to it, as it is a rounded pave style.
I believe a 3 to 3.5 mm width would look great on your future wife''s finger and would not overwhelm it, given the length of her finger. It sounds like she has beautiful, graceful fingers and hands! With the length of her fingers, she should be able to carry off a 3 to 3.5 mm band with no problem. I think the biggest question you face is how your diamond will look on the band.
