My father never had a wedding band - he wears a signet ring with the family crest but he's worn that since he turned 21, it wasn't a wedding thing.
DH didn't want a band at all and I was fine with that - then I showed him mokume gane and he decided that he did want one after all. Now he wears it all the time when he's out and most of the time he's at home.
Doesn't stop women hitting on him at all - he reckons it actually makes it more likely... he spends a lot of time at conferences, evening events etc and I'd guess a lot of women like the idea of a no-strings fling. Luckily DH thinks having affairs would be very exhausting and is also incapable of going more than 10 minutes before having to talk about his wife or daughter! He does enjoy telling me about the latest proposition when he gets home though - women are just as predatory as men!
I only wear my rings when I go out and even then not always - I've never worn much jewellery (despite being a gemnut) and I still find it uncomfortable and with a small child it's not always practical.
