Ok, I know the big proposal is coming and I am SO EXCITED. I am having serious troubles sleeping because I am so thrilled. However, I am just worried about one little thing.... I have voiced this on a forum before and I am sorry if this is redundant but as it gets closer, I am concerned about the ring size. I have bigger knuckes and every place I went told me I was a different size. My to be ring is a custom Jack Kelege made with a 1.5 ct RB that is a very special family stone. The bottom line is that I know the ring has been made to a final size fo 5 3/8. That was because I tried on a ring of the same style of mine and to my surprise, they said I was a size 5. It was a little tight for comfort so we decided at the time to order 5 1/4. However, as time went on and I went out to "confirm" my size with other rings and sizers, I was more of a 5 1/2 to 5 3/4. So, I just told him to do 5 3/8 and be done with it. I know we are talking millimeters but after experimenting with some rings, I realized that my fingers are definitely bigger in the morning and smaller after a few hours, like when we got sized. So, now I am worried that even the 5 3/8 may be smaller than what we should have ordered. The bottom line is that this ring is a masterpiece and I am afraid it will be tight and there will be no way to change it. For reference, it is the imperial crown ring at www.jackkelege.com. I cannot wait to get it and be with my bf forever but this keeps nagging at me. Yikes....

I think this is a VERY valid fear to have.

What did your SO say when you asked him to chnage it to 3/8?? I''m sure if you voiced this concern enough, he listened and probably brought it up to the jeweler.

And I''m sure this is the last thing you want to hear but... it can be resized...

Although...

I have a feeling it will be PERFECT. And after it is all said and done, you''ll come back to this post and giggle about it.

Let us know what happens.

thanks... i hope so. As of now, he said that it "is in its finished form" and we can deal with the size thing "If" it is an issue. I hope I will be lauging about it soon. Until then, i will be in a permanent state of manicure!!!

hehe

I love the perma-manicure state. Other posts on here insist that men feel compelled to propose because your hard it lovely then - ring worthy indeed. hehe

I can''t wait to hear how your story unfolds!! It''s all so exciting!!

What''s done is done...so quit worrying! You can''t do anything to change it now, and like as not, it''ll fit you perfectly.

If it doesn''t fit, I''m sure you''ll be able to discuss some viable options. Best of luck and congrats in advance!

I too was worried about my ring fitting.. I wasn't able to try on the exact ring and was just hoping that it was the right size.. I told my FI that he should just shove the ring on my finger no matter if it fit or not. Well, the proposal came and the ring fit PERFECTLY. (actually, it's slightly too big now..) You just have to hope and hope that it fits right and not think about it being too small until it actually happens..

Best of luck to you!

I completely understand why you're worried. I have the same problem, my fingers change size with the time of day, the weather, pretty much anything you can think of. IMHO, though, as long as you can get it over your knuckle, it's better to be a teeny bit tight than too loose. For the one ring I wear all the time (not an e-ring) I probably should have gone 1/8 size bigger because it is tight more often than it is loose. But in all honesty, I RARELY notice and when I do, it's because I see it and not because I feel it. This ring almost never comes off, I shower, sleep, do dishes, etc. with it on (horrors!! but it's a plain metal signet ring and I tend to lose things) and it's only been tight to the point of discomfort maybe two or three times. I've never been worried about having it slip off. So unless you have very sensitive hands, it probably won't be as big a problem as you fear.

ETA: I forgot to say, your ring is going to be gorgeous, I love the setting! Hopefully the time will come very soon!
