Is it normal to get cold feet? I feel as if I didnt see enough diamonds and getting a good price is important, especially bc its a huge cost...

I guess I need some comfort from ps

BTW- ring should be in on Monday and pictures will follow

YES
I spent a 10th of the money you spent on my stone and I was so nervous! its a large chunk of change you want it to be perfect. but dont worry it will be. And compared to local stores Im sure you're getting a great deal....

and remember, money is like the wind, you only feel it when its moving ;)

Just to let you now the knife edge is uncomfortable.. I know cause I had this setting from BGD ;)

I would say the 6-prong half round or the ones Gypsy posted! Beautiful! Let us know what you decide!

I have a knife edge six-prong Tiffany style, along with a plain knife edge matching band...and I LOVE the knife edge. I have never found it even the slightest bit uncomfortable, over the several years of continuous wear.

Also, I enjoy the security - as well as the look - of the six prongs.

FWIW :wavey:

The stone is lovely. I have both rounded and knife edge shank and I got used to both pretty quickly. Hope to see the completed ring soon.

Thanks...Im hoping so. I know theres a premium for HA....im sure when I see it again these feelings will be alleviated

I also love my Tiffany style knife edge setting and think you should get that since she said she liked it!!! It is not uncomfortable especially once worn with a wedding band because then you cannot even feel the e-ring band at all.

Im not too concerned about the setting, as I have decided to put it in a stock 6 prong ring. Most of my nerves stem from not knowing what I should be paying.

But shell be happy so....thats a good start, ha!

Pics of the diamond with the temporary setting......!

My DH said that immediately after purchasing my first ring (I have had several since) that he went to the first bar he found that was open and had several drinks  He had never spent money like that on anything in his life, except maybe a car, and he was so nervous/ getting cold feet about everything. I didn't know and I thought it was super sweet when I hear afterwards 8) .

Anyhow I'm really happy you picked the comfort fit band. While I like the knife edge I think the comfort fit is eaiser to match with a wedding band. And I like options. With the knife edge I feel like you limit yourself.

You definitely did great! It is a gorgeous diamond! And the setting you chose is classic and timeless! Don't second guess it. Instead start worrying about your proposal!

Khal, you chose a STUNNING diamond and the setting doesn't look like it needs to be temporary, IMO! Its a classic - its elegant and timeless and will never look dated. It also gives your fiance the option of a wide variety of wedding bands to go with it.

Don't worry about the purchase (unless its financial, and I can't help ya there!) but in terms of the right diamond - you picked a spectacular stone!!!

Best of luck with your proposal - your GF is going to faint when she sees that ring!!

It is really gorgeous! :appl: I wore my original setting like that for 25 years or so until I got a new ring, so that setting doesn't have to be temporary as Enerchi also said!

You did a great job--what a beautiful and timeless engagement ring!

What a stunner! I hope you'll post handshots after the proposal - I imagine that it will look spectacular!

Your new stone looks amazing in that solitaire setting! Your girl is going to be blown away! She will have the biggest, sparkliest rock on the block!

It's beautiful!!

She said Yes!

As many of you know, I was very hesitant in dishing out a "premium" in terms of cost for a H&A diamond as opposed to a generic GIA XXX...albeit without spending the time to find the "right" XXX

After seeing her face light up and everyones reaction, including many jewelers telling me how great a diamond it is, I am extremely happy with my purchase and am glad I dished out a little more for the HA cut.

I know many of you are regulars and see many of us clueless guys come and go, so I want to say Thank you for all the feedback and knowledge Ive gained.

Now if I can find a forum that helps me plan a wedding, that would be great

Thanks PS
