My Dh is a online fx investor.

My husband is the legislative analyst for the Child Care Program in the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services. No one knows what HHS does, so think on the health side, the CDC and the NIH, and on the human services side, think welfare, Medicaid/Medicare, etc.

He''s basically been unemployed since we''ve been dating with the exception of summer jobs. (his MOTHER didn''t want want him to have a job while he was in school.. oy..)
But.. he was hired all the way back in early june.. and will be starting on Monday in car sales. He''s really excited about it. I know its not the kind of job most of the hubbies on this site have.. but I''m so proud of him.

Hubby is a computer nerd!! I just shake my head when I go into his home office...there are Novell servers, Linux servers, etc. this house is wired for who knows what! He loves it, it''s his profession and his hobby.

which I will then have to perform a financial analysis of what some of these changes mean to around 200 hospitals nationwide

Many interesting things in our healthcare world fall under the HHS umbrella!!

He was an architect.

Now he owns his own business doing something something something I can''t ever remember. I know he''s not designing anymore. I know he''s working more on the contractor''s side. I know he''s making a lot more money. But really, I don''t know what he does or how to label him.

I always just tell people he''s an architect or that he owns his own business because it''s just easier that way and I seem less of bad girlfriend for not knowing how to describe what it is that he does exactly.

I guess "love slave" is good too. LOL

My husband is Director, Information Technology. (I'm Director Internet & Application development)

But we work at the SAME company. Used to be in the same department. Worked together for 8 years b/f we were married. YIKES.

Thank God I didn''t have to be the first to confess. If I may paraphrase:

Who the hell knows. Something with bonds. I can never remember the difference between a stock and a bond. Something about subordinated and unsubordinated debt.

Ya know, my husband just mentioned yesterday, that he wanted to move towards the data/applications/software side of their products....I think he''s applying for a new position within his company. That would be direct competition with your job then!

H2b owns a tile and marble installation business. Does all kinds of fancy junk with showers for people that wants showers big enough for the whole family and then some...crazyness.
26.gif

Seriously, he finished a shower a few months back that was 10'x10', had a slate ceiling with can lights, heated slate floor, five shower heads all over the place and a door on one side to enter and a door on the other side to exit. I went to look at it and the first thing that popped into my head was "car wash". Maybe I should have looked into pharmaceuticals (that's what this guy does)

I had to laugh at this because it could be what my Architect hubby does - and it''s hard to describe even though he has been doing the same thing for over 20 years. He is an Architect - but doesn''t practice Architecture. He is a partner in a large construction company, does development work & services colleges/universities/campuses as the owner''s rep. for private ventures. Yep, it''s confusing. I just say he''s chief firemen.

And, yes - Architecture isn''t the best paying profession. That''s why he got his MBA to work in more lucrative paths.

The pharmeceutical business is indeed lucrative! My husband knows several drug reps who make quite the nice salary! They get lots of perks, too...like expense accounts and company cars. One couple we know are both drug reps and they live a much more ritzy life style than we do, that''s for sure! I''ve considered it, if and when I ever go back to work. But you have to travel around a lot and I don''t like driving that much.

I''ve seen showers like the one you describe...one house I was in a while back had a shower that looked like a locker room, it had half a dozen shower heads in it! These people also had a lap pool and a sauna in their finsished basement. I can''t even imagine!

My Fi owns a recording studio and is a producer/ engineer and musician. He is obsessed with his work and the studio gear. About 80% of his conversations with me are about Neve, Neuman, API, Dan Alexander, Pro-Tools, etc, etc- electronics that I have no business knowing about, but that I am force fed
2.gif

It does make me happy, though, that he loves his work and is so good at it.

No kidding about the salary. This guy has a private jet ready and waiting at all times. His bedroom is 2,000sf and the house is 27,000sf! Good grief!

My boyfriend is a Materials Engineering gradstudent. He works as a research assistant on campus in his dept and will most likely be in research when he graduates, except for a company or the Gov''t.

My wife is a pet sitter. She goes to your house and takes care of your pets while you are away. She loves it, and gets to play with the dogs and the cats all day.
