Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

Very pretty, great price too!

You already have 1 bid, so hopefully you'll do well (don't see why you wouldn't as you have lots of interest).

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

I did change the title, thank you for the feedback!

Wow, 1 bid already, and over 100 views.

I did receive a phone call today for 7,000. Should I take it or let the auction run?
Thanks for everyone's support.

Thanks for everyone's support.

If the phone call was from a PSer, I'd take it :naughty: But in general... maybe let the auction run. There was plenty of interest it seems.

Also, be careful of scammers! If someone offers to go outside of ebay and Paypal, steer clear.

Good luck with the sale!

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

If the phone call is legit and local, you should sell, esp. if it can be done outside of ebay bc you should factor in the 9 percent ebay fees that you will lose, plus the paypal fees.

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

Also, be very careful selling on ebay. Ebay protects buyers but does not protect sellers to the same degree. The "Item not as described" policy for returns is a seller's worst enemy. With the fees that you will pay ebay and paypal, I wonder if you aren't better off consigning.

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

If you do sell locally, remember CASH ONLY! And do not accept paypal for local pickup as you would have no proof that the item was picked up.

And always remember that with paypal, items over $250 require ONLINE SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION.

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

Thank you everyone for the great tips, much appreciated.

Rinky, by now too much time has elapsed since you posted (I think you can edit in the first few minutes). A moderator will remove your personal info. If you want to contact the seller, try sending a message through Loupe Troop, or ebay.

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

Rinky,

There should be an Edit button on your message. Don't know how long it's there, though, if there's a time limit.

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

Please forgive me for my ignorance, but how do you know that the stone is an old european cut? It still shows a cutlet, though small...and the gia cert. does not describe it as an oec. Can OP or anyone please clarify?
thanks

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

Nala,

I think GIA lists pretty much any round as a brilliant, unless it meets some VERY specific criteria.

liz

P.S. It's "culet" (with only a "t" at the end). "Cutlets" are something else entirely.

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

Thanks, Libby
I guess I am confused because the OP started advertising this stone and then everyone chimed in and called it an oec, so I guess I just would like to know who confirmed that it is an oec.

I think it's just evident from the faceting. That's how we usually distinguish an OEC from a non-OEC. The facets under the table are bigger than a modern stone would have.

This would fit into my VC setting that is also for sale. That would be quite the ring at a bargin price.

Sarah, do you think this diamond would fit? Would you mind asking VC? Do you think there will be a big color difference in this stone and your setting? I would send to VC to set.

EGL report calls it a round brilliant too, and they usually DO use "old european" or "transitional" so I would not personally call it an OEC, especially without better photos.

hey SS- I got your email and responded ;))

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

Based on all the photos it looks like it may be an old cut. But I can't tell from the photos and would hesitate to label it an OEC specifically. It could be an early MRB or any other non-traditional make of round!

Re: 2.06 Round Brilliant

The item has Sold.
Although the diamond world is still confusing I've learned so much.
Thank you everyone for your input and education.
