Hi guys,

This is how I feel about posting this diamond in Pre-Loved --- Those of you who saw my thread about it may remember that I thought I found *The One* with this OEC. I love the cut and size of this diamond; but as much as I hate to admit this to myself, I want a whiter stone for a ering. This would be an ideal RHR.

The OEC is GIA certed, and can be bought either loose or with the vintage platinum setting it came in.

Here are the basic stats:

GIA # 2155663201
8.44 - 8.50 x 5.63 mm
2.55 carats, S-T range, VS2
table: 47%, depth 66.5%
faint fluorescence

I'm asking $10,000 for the stone loose, or $12,000 with the setting.

LT listing: http://loupetroop.com/listings/loose-stones-diamond/2-dot-55ct-s-t-vs2-oec-plus-optional-setting

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

This is a super beautiful ring. I wish I hadn't returned to uni or I'd definitely snap it up. :(sad

And for clarity's sake, is the setting you're referring to the new or the old?

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Thanks justginger! Hey, Uni wins :) I hope your studies are going well!

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Justginger -- just noticed the second part of your comment, about the setting. The setting I'm referring to is the vintage platinum setting with the pretty diamonds and fine workmanship. :rodent: The OEC + platinum vintage setting would be $12,000.

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

I love your stone!!!!!!! It's so gorgeous and amazing
Good luck with your sale, Gem!!!

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Good luck selling this beauty; she (and her vintage setting) would be mine if I had an unlimited bling fund!

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Thanks guys! She'd be mine if I had an unlimited bling fun as well! ::) How I wish I could keep her and get a whiter ering stone in addition to it. Alas, not with my current budget.

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

This is one of the most beautifully cut OECs I have ever seen. She is absolutely stunning! If I had the funds, she and her setting would be coming my way asap!

Lots of dust for a quick sale to a wonderful new home!!!

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Gem Fever I am so sorry I can't buy this stone.. this is my dream right hand ring stone.. I still am paying for 2 sons in college.. paying and paying.. :) I wish I could set it in the below setting. It would look dreamy.. I wish you luck.. I have a G/H 1.66 MB in a sort of okay setting that I will hopefully redo.. I'll keep trying the lottery.. you have wonderful, beautiful taste.

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Thanks armywife! ::)

Tekate -- I love that setting! Wow, the stone would just sing in that setting. Though I've also been thinking that white metal is really good for her, it creates some beautiful contrast. Thanks for your nice words, and I hope you find a stunning setting for your 1.66!

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Why are there so many gorgeous OECs up for sale?? Just when I have no available funds!! I just need to save up and be ready to jump. I love that stone. It would be perfect as a RHR or on a pendant. Hope someone gives it a new home soon!

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Thanks LLJsmom! I actually considered the pendant idea and even contacted BGD about the Barbara setting. I also considered making a 3-stone RHR with two red spinels I have... even got as far as CADs, but realized I don't have enough finger real estate. I love this baby so much, I wish I could keep it and get a second ering in a whiter color! But I'd have to wait several years to save up again, and I'm just not that patient ;(

Here's a pic of my 3-stone ideas. Ok, maybe 3 pics :Up_to_something: I loooove how the colors work together.

in the two pics below it shows its chameleon nature. The first is outdoors on a cloudy day, the second is indoors in an office-type building.

OMG. Can you just imagine that three stone in a rich 18k gold setting?? Reminds me of the ruby and French cut diamond eternity band set in yellow gold from Single Stone. That would be so freaking rich and gorgeous looking. Maybe after you find your whiter erring...

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

LLJsmom, I did consider rich 18k YG, it would be fabulous. But I think that would make it very RHR-y. I had hoped to make a ring that could work both as an RHR and an ering sometimes (since I couldn't get an ering for several years). So I think for a ring that could still look ering-ish platinum would be classic.

I hope to use the spinels one day for a 3-stone. Something amazing :lickout:

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

I gotta say that I LOVE this stone. I love its chunky facets, its creamy goodness and its general sparkly good nature. I keep coming back for "just one more look." :cheeky:

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

This is like the absolutely stunning big sister to my little ST OEC and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! If I was in the market for an engagement diamond this would so be my top choice. I love the faceting, I love the colors it gives off. I just love everything about it! It's gorgeous and can't wait to see what you replace it with :naughty:

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Thanks minous! Maybe I should post some more pretty pics for your enjoyment :lickout: I have to admit I visit my own threads pretty often to peek at the photos

Thank you anners11! To be honest I have no idea what I'm going to replace it with. I kinda love the size! :naughty: I know for sure I won't be able to break the 2.5ct mark in a whiter color. I love the warm color too, it's just a mind-clean kind of thing. I always wanted whiter and now... I dunno. I've already gotten cold feet once about selling, but then I couldn't figure out how to set the stone and posted it for sale out of frustration. Now I'm thinking maybe the BGD full bezel in platinum... yikes. I'm going to sleep on it.

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

I think I'll try the BGD full bezel solitaire.

*** diamond no longer on sale *** for now. I've changed my mind about a million times, maybe I will again.

But for now, I'm super excited to see how it will look in platinum, and a bezel to boot!

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Boo! I'm consigning my engagement ring and a few other bits and pieces -- was hoping it would sell so I could get this!

But of course I'm excited to see what you do with it. I really hope that the right setting makes you 100% love it.

Aww, sorry justginger! I also hope the new setting will do the trick. But I've been known to change my mind ::) The funds have been transfered to BGD though, so I'm locked in at least for a few months (precious months of peace! haha!).

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Hey guys,

I think I am going to let Audrey go (she is too big for me, I love to look at her but feel self conscious wearing the ring). She is now in a new platinum bezel, and the vintage setting has sold. I paid $2K for the new setting (made by Brian Gavin Designs). I'm asking $11K for the stone and new setting. Imo, the bezel is the absolute perfect setting for this stone. It hides some color and makes Audrey incredibly fiery. It's comfy and sizable (size 5 now).

I may make a new thread for this later on, but I don't have the heart right now. I don't have the heart to make a separate LT or DB listing either, so if you're interested, contact me through one of my other LT listings.

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Oh no GemFever, say it isn't so!!! ;( This ring looks so perfect on your hand, it doesn't look one bit ostentatious or showy - what if you give it a little more time? Maybe you just need to wear it a little longer to get used to the size. I'm being very obnoxious - something isn't right if you're not feeling comfortable wearing it and I do respect your feelings - but this ring just looks so dang beautiful on you! :halo:

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

I know junebug... :(( My emotions are such a rollercoaster. I'm up there with butterflies one week, the a ball of doubt the next.

Of course I may change my mind, as I have before. But I'm under 30, been married for a little over a year... it just doesn't feel right right now. I feel like I got carried away in the upgrade race and lost control. I went to a party tonight and felt so relaxed just wearing the frenchies. It's like I can't relax when I have a 2.5ct diamond on my finger (and the bezel makes it feel bigger than the solitaire setting, too). Tbh, I wish I could go back to my 1ct  It's actually for sale right now, but for more than I paid for it initially, and def more than I sold it for ;))

Anyway, of course I may get over it. It may also make sense to just put the ring away for a good long while and then come back to it. But I'm pretty impulsive and it tends to be all or nothing. I could stand to have some patience and balance! But the way I figure -- if it sells to a PSer who will adore it *now,* that's awesome.

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

I totally understand GemFever and I'm sorry I was pushy and made you feel conflicted! Please forgive me :halo: Of course you have to do what feels right to you - the goal is to feel comfortable and happy wearing your ering…several ps'ers have downsized, and it makes sense to do it if it will help you feel good about wearing your ring. Feeling self-conscious and anxious defeats the whole purpose of wearing jewelry!

Junebug, you are never pushy, you're one of the nicest posters on PS! :)) I appreciate you posting, it's good for me to talk this out. Obviously I was ecstatic over the ring just a week ago, what happened? So thank you so much for posting!

Re: 2.55ct Old European Cut diamond + optional vintage setti

Hi, I am so sorry you still aren't sure about this stone - it's a stunning diamond and it looks pretty darn amazing in that setting!!!! I hope that either someone buys it and loves it or you put it away and then decide to keep it. If it's any comfort I would not have rocked a diamond that size in my 20s or early 30s for that matter without feeling weird and strange about it and I worked as a school teacher many years ago so it would have been totally out of place in that sort of environment so I get where you are coming from. Now I am over 40 I don't give a bleep what people think and wear what I like including big diamonds. I think about half the time people that don't know me think they are fake and I have reached this happy place where I really don't care, it's all about what I like not anyone else.

I know that you have had an ongoing struggle liking this stone from the beginning the colour, the setting and so on, so if it doesn't make your heart go pitter patter then you are probably doing the right thing. It's an awesome stone - hopefully it will find a home soon!!!!

Omg how gorgeous! I have been watching the videos on the ebay listing over and over...and making my bf watch too (he seems unamused lol). If I had the funds, she would be MINE.

Thanks tsavoritestar! ::) I just added one more vid. I forgot about it the first time around. It's short, but fun. It's reflecting Xmas lights :naughty:
