I got this stone today, and I was told the stone didn't have any gray, but I do see just a touch - not too bad though. It's still very pretty and bright, and I think I know how I'll set it, but I'm always interested in knowing what you style-savvy PSers think. Soooo, white or yellow gold? And don't worry, I won't go crazy and post a ton of pics like I usually do - just a few.

ETA: it's an 8mm blue topaz (I know, I know), cut by Bob Kast (aka vallejo916 on eBay). He called this cut Americana. It sorta looks like part Portuguese, part brilliant to my untrained eye.

I"m pretty sure I''m not a style-savvy PSer, but I think this stone looks good either way. It goes a bit greener with the yellow gold, and looks more crispy blue with the white gold. It is really up to you, what other jewelry you have, and the clothes you would wear with it.

Very pretty stone, BTW!

Last one.

I like it muy mucho with the white gold!

I''d go with white gold.

I personally like grey though.

Pretty stone

I''d like yellow shank and white prongs [if not plat]

Fly Girl: you''ve got plenty of style, especially if you have that shoe in your avatar! I gotta say, I never would have picked that shoe for you - really made me smile!

karee: okay then, one vote for white gold. Right now it''s my first choice too, but I wondered if it washed out the color.

Okay, what''s with all the pink shoes in the avatars - what did I miss??!!

Sorry karee, I completely forgot to mention the details. Lemme go back and edit...

Love it with white! Cool colors go together well.

Definitely white. I always prefer white metals with blue stones. It''s very pretty, BTW.

The pink shoe is in honor of Lorelei''s 30K posts. Link

for white gold!

Bob cut my aqua with the same cut. It''s a very nice cut. I think it would look best in white gold. It looks like an aqua more than a blue topaz.

That''s a lovely stone, great shape/cut and that color is fantastic

For me it would definately have to be white gold, seems somehow crisper and contrasts better in the white gold settings !

Pretty stone! I like the yellow gold, I think it contrasts a little better with the color of the stone.

Hmm, I like them both. The color seems to pop more against the yellow though. Which would you wear more?

White gold all the way. I really like that cut.

I wonder if he would cut something for me like that. I also like the morganite you have from him.

We should try buying a really large poorly cut stone on ebay and have him recut it :P

My vote''s for white gold too. I love this shade of blue topaz! Great size too.

Ok, I''m sorry to be totally stupid, but I''ve seen a fair amount of people reference vallejo916, and each and every time I go and try to find him on there and get no results. Argh! Can someone please link me to an auction or his seller list? Thanks!

White gold, and I thought the stone is an aqua.

Wow, thanks everyone for your responses! White gold seems to be the overwhelming favorite. I was a little unsure at first because I've seen some lighter blue stones in yellow gold, and they looked fabulous. I think though, that the color needs to be a little more saturated, like TL's cuprian in the 18K yellow gold. Mine is just not all that.

TL and lovinggems - dang, I should have just kept quiet and let everyone think it was an aqua, lol. I think I'm the only one who doesn't have that LOGR legacy setting yet, but I'm really going for this Tiffany's look:
