Hi all-
As some of you may remember, earlier I was looking at sapphires for an e-ring (old thread here). After a number of subsequent visits to stores to see stones in person, however, my gf began to change her mind and started leaning towards yellow diamonds (
)
Fast forward a month, and now I have picked out the perfect stone- a 1.75ct, fancy yellow vs1 cushion-cut diamond. As one would imagine, however, my budget has been stretched to the maximum by the change in stone. I have $1600 or less for a simple solitaire setting, and was hoping I could get some design ideas from the wonderful people on PS. I haven't been able to find too many images of simple solitaire settings though. Yellow diamonds most often seem to be paired with halos, sidestones, or pave, but I know my gf doesn't like halos or sidestones, and pave would fall outside of my budget range (or at least, good pave like LM, VC, would).
I am hoping to get a platinum shank with a yellow gold head to enhance the color of the stone. The two requirements are that the shank taper towards the diamond, going from perhaps 2mm down to 1.75mm (roughly), and that it not be a bezel. Otherwise, my gf is wide open- cathedral, tiffany-style prongs, the whiteflash X-prongs- she likes them all.
Anyone have photos of good yellow diamond solitaires that I could look at for inspiration? Any settings I should check out that would look especially good with a cushion-cut yellow diamond? Thanks!
