Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

This tourmaline & diamond ring is pretty. Not vintage unfortunately but still pretty. And pretty pricey. :eek2:

Sooo.... Some of you may be following my journey over in Rocky Talk https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/how-to-buy-a-vintage-oec.287613/
Welll.... I may have also bought @lala646 's return. :P2

It was exactly the specs I was looking for, and looked soooo pretty in lala's pictures and videos! I was stalking MaxPawn many times a day waiting for it to pop up. I didn't mention in my thread due to lurkers. I was hoping everyone would forget. I was starting to think I missed it and someone else bought it. In the meantime, I ended up buying another (breathtakingly beautiful) stone locally, and a day later this one popped up! By that time I was committed so I went for it. :lol-2: I gave an offer a bit lower than lala's (I couldn't remember so I just guessed) and they accepted and I completed the purchase today. I'm so excited for it to arrive! If it's as good as it looks, then it's a really good deal, and the two stones together will have cost about what I was thinking to spend on just one. Can't wait!! :appl:

Omg omg omg!!!! No way! I’m so excited for you! TWOOOO?!?

Yes, I'm so curious to compare them. I'm keeping the Sako stone for sure. I have the return policy on this one, so there's no risk. At worst, a good learning experience. But I hope I end up loving it, it would be so fun to get it certed. And I already have a project idea for the side stones too. :P2

PS is so dangerous. I need to be banned from here for the sake of my savings account.

I really look forward to your comparison, pictures and thoughts! Is this about the same size as the one you already have? Honestly, I think they’re going to look very similar to the naked eye. Maybe this new one has a slightly larger table and slightly lower crown?

I know!! :evil2:
I did say I might do something crazy and buy two. I just didn't say which ones. :lol-2: Because lurkers... And now I know I'm keeping the Sako one, so yes this would be a second if I decide it's worth it. I think it would actually take pressure off the setting, if I know I can do different designs for the two.

Me too! It's arriving tomorrow and I'll be working from home to make sure I don't miss the delivery. I think the MaxPawn one is a smidge larger, probably just over 1.5 ct. MaxPawn said 1.5 and lala measured 7.3 x 7.5 mm (the Sako 1.49 ct is 7.2 x 7.2). I hope I like it because I'm dying to walk it in to GIA, possibly even this week.

On that note, what would be a reasonable labor cost to free the stone if I choose to? I don't have a regular jeweler, I've just gone to random places for resizing and repairs in the past.

Since you're local to Collins Family jewellers, they're jewellers too!

If it’s prong set they shouldn’t charge more than about $40. It takes about 5 mins!

Maxine (:lol-2:) is here!!!

The ring overall is beautiful. @lala646 did a fantastic job cleaning her! :lol-2: I don't even despise the setting as much as I did from the Max Pawn pictutes, but I wouldn't wear it either. And it's my size! :lol-2:

Comparison to my new Sako stone (her name will be revealed in due time)... Slightly larger face up, maybe by 2-3 mm, and a few color grades lower. Maybe a 1.7 M-N-OP? I can't see any inclusions with my eagle eye, but I can see the chip lala pointed out. I don't have a decent loupe (any Amazon recs?)

The cut is very nice! It's very bright and crisp. It's definitely more of a checkerboard pattern, which is not my favorite. It looked more floral to me. I wouldn't choose it in place of my Sako stone, but maybe it will do as a second flavor of OEC?

I don't want to derail this thread, so please head over to my OEC thread for more discussion. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/how-to-buy-a-vintage-oec.287613/page-8

Here is the quick video shoot.

Is this the one that was supposed to post this past weekend but disappeared?

Yes, this was THE one… it was so weird. I must have refreshed at least a hundred times over the weekend  … she looks deeper than Flora, I’m so curious what her specs and price is.

If someone is in the market for a beautiful old mine upgrade, THIS IS IT. I ADORE Flora, she’s perfect, in every way… the VS1 in her was worth it but eye watering, lol! This is a SI1. You can buy your stone and fly to the Florida Keys to celebrate

Yeah I totally have an addiction to these little vintage bands. Please go buy that one so we can see pictures! One more won't hurt lol

You and me both! I’m eyeing a Tiffany floral band that I really need to make a thread and hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me can look at it and tell me how old it is…

would love to see if you get it, I have a floral tiffany that I bought about 3 years ago with an inscription from 1938, I have seen the same pattern again a time or two so wondering if it is the same.

Post is finally up. 55k for a GIA K Si1 - seems quite a good deal for that ctw. I wish she showed a side view though! I always want to see the crown!

This is very interesting… I was trying to buy this band… it was in Paris. While I was waiting for the invoice someone bought this. It’s beautiful- I have a ton of videos from the seller if anyone wants to see them…. FYI- There is a broken stone in there…. Like not a chip, one is missing the entire crown. There is also a adorable itty bitty Peruzzi in there.

It’s an insane deal!!!! I love her depth… Flora has an 47% table, 65% depth. Dolly’s stone is a touch deeper with a little bigger table. I can see a couple tiny black inclusions … but she’s really pretty!!!!

Someone needs her. :kiss2:

Now I’m curious to know what it was priced at vs what it ends up getting re-listed for.

They were initially asking $7300, they had the ring for three years and are willing to negotiate… so who knows, less than $7000

“About 5ctw”.

Here’s the original link there’s more pictures here… It’s really a beautiful piece, and Eva from Ignee Paris was so sweet, it just was a timing thing … which worked out beautifully anyways because I have Cinderella now and really don’t need a second eternity…. Yet

Ignee Paris

I’ll try to attach their video link, let me know if know if this doesn’t work
