Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

100%

I was being patient for so long before I got my new ring, waiting for the right time to buy the setting, it just serves me right making such a large purchase all at once! Now I have to go right back to ban island after such a short stay abroad! :cry2:

I’ll go with you

Gah!!! That is stunning! Size? Price??

It’s at auction, size 7 1/4 (sizable)
I contacted Jeff White about cutting an aquamarine for the center but he had concerns with getting a gem to fit perfectly within the bezel. He recommended a lab and it could be cut to size.
It’s currently at $2,500

And no Flora won’t fit, I checked

If someone wants the link let me know and I will take my post down and get you the info

I have two sapphires that need homes but there are smaller. The setting is absolutely gorgeous

It truly is. I’ve stared at that setting for hours. A big part of me wanted it, but I know a lab wouldn’t be mind clean for me and that beautiful setting would just sit … it deserves to be shown to the world.

Ugh I’m sitting here still trying to figure out a way to get an aquamarine in there. Maybe someone could rebuild the bezel to fit the new stone? Sigh, my heart hurts. I really love that setting …

@lavenderdragonfly23 Thanks! If it works to post here that works for me, my LT account usually has issues getting the emails!!!

It’s so pretty. I wish you all the best budding of your decide. And if you win, please post here with pics so I can live vicariously through you

Thanks and will do! I am guessing the final price won’t be too inexpensive

Recut the aquamarine? Cut a new aquamarine? The possibilities are endless if you love that setting!

This modest little ring is Dreamer’s five stones smaller cousin.

This all sounds so stressful… I think with Flora and Cinderella I think I’m going to just take things easy and pick up a few bands here and there this year. Boring I know, lol! It would probably take everything else I have stashed away for the setting and then if an Aqua wouldn’t fit that pretty setting would sit in my drawer… I would much rather someone who needs her for an engagement ring turn her into something beautiful… she deserves to be the bell of the ball ❤️

Hi @lavenderdragonfly23 -- is this lovely setting still available for auction and if so, could you please send me the link? Here is my info from LT:

Another turn of the century 5 stone. This one you can see the place where a paired ring wore down the side of the baskets over time. It’s got newer stones (more transitional than OEC) than the previous one I posted, where stones are quite older. Offer available. Note either seller is mistaken or ring stamp altered says “8k & PT”. Seller claims 18k.

I REALLY love this chunky OMC old mine cushion with squarish shape. Diamond appears quite white and lively. Nice 18k setting, early 20th C. setting for an older cut stone.

I'm a heart lover. This piece sold years ago, but I still think about her all the time. I've never been able to find one I love as much as this one...

For window shopping, Here’s a late Victorian Australian Opal heart. It’s not as fine or puffy as the Edwardian one shared above. But it’s delicate, romantic and unique. Eagle’s head hallmark indicates French made 18k, dating can be determined from the Hallmark, but it’s not shown. (This IMO could be an early 20th C replica gathering from the basket and prongs, but halo diamonds are old).

Beautiful and such an OLD diamond! A true OMC and I like the setting a lot though of course, it is much more recent than the diamond.

That really is a stunning setting and an aquamarine would look amazing in it!
I’m not going to be in the bidding but I do have a question about shipping from the auction house. It’s been ages since I have bought anything that way. I read the “ fine print” and it looks like you have to either pick up the item you win or arrange for an outside shipper to get it and ship to you? Is that correct?
