Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

I’m not posting this because it’s such a fantastic find, I’m posting it because it’s never happened to me before:

I just came across an antique ring on EBay that’s identical to one I own! Identical in every way except (alas) that the stones on mine are much smaller. Oh well. I love my little ring, I’ve owned it for many years now (at least 10 years and probably more like 15) and currently I wear it most every day.

So here’s the ring that’s being offered on EBay, and the listing:

Here are some not-so-good photos of my ring:

I bought my rating from some wonderful seller on either Loupetroop or the old diamond bistro (?). I’m not sure whether I paid $600 or $350 for it, but at this point that’s immaterial. I really like this little ring and at this point I’ve more than gotten my money’s worth out of it in enjoyment alone. As I recall, the seller estimated a total carat weight of .30 to .45, so 1/3 of the eBay ring or less. Oh well. I’m just tickled to see that my ring has a twin - or maybe a big sister - out there somewhere!

Did anyone here snag this one by any chance? I hesitated on it because it's at least 2 sizes too large and I knew resizing would be difficult. Now I'm really sad I missed out, and will be even more so if I see it pop up with a reseller. Next time I'll buy first, think later (assuming return policy of course).

Hi! I am not the current owner, but I did buy this ring when it was first listed in February and ended up returning it. It was a pretty ring and clearly well made, but the stones were small and kind of flat looking (maybe it just needed a good cleaning). Like you, I would have needed to resize it to wear it, and the band was so delicate that it was hard to appreciate the engraving.

I bought another vintage ring from Pawn America a couple of days after, and told myself I could only keep one. The second one has all kinds of issues - not as well made, chips, clumsy repair with the stone set crooked - but the diamonds were much livelier than the first one (plus it was cheaper). So, the first one went back. PA was great about the return!

I love bands like these so much. Very practical for me, mom of 2 kids and a dog.

Aww thank you! I definitely would've given it a good cleaning before writing it off, but it makes me feel a bit better. I don't recall seeing it back in February. I wonder if this is the first restock since you returned it, or if it has exchanged hands a few times.

Well I must stop coming to this thread. I bought the bracelet. High risk as shipping to the uk means hard to return due to 20% tax and 5% import duty. Let’s hope it’s gorgeous!!

Then I did another thing and bought this. I very stupidly let my art deco watch go for almost nothing a couple of years ago - I’ve regretted it ever since. Although this one isn’t a full bracelet, it is stunning so looking forward to receiving this too.

Definitely on ban island for at least a few months!

I received the bracelet and it is very lovely. Delicate, lively stones, very white but chunky oecs.

Here is a photo and video - my skills aren’t great!

The watch is due to arrive Friday

You're welcome!

When did you see it listed? I know it sold again a week or two after I returned it, then I stopped checking on it. Maybe the person who bought it after me returned it, too.

Through.the.louping.glass on instagram has some nice bracelets around scrap price till this evening and then she’s gonna to melt them if they don’t sell.

It was in stock around this past weekend. That's a lot of returns, maybe I'll just wait and get my crack at some point. :P2

I tried to get some better photos.

The new bracelet looks beautifully made, with fine miligrain details and delicate prongs. I’m happy it found you! Your collection is to be admired, thanks for sharing photos!

Anyone need Jan 10th ??
I purchased a ring from here and have no complaints!

This is the first thing from Cartier that caught my eye. It's weird, but I do like it. I thought it would have cost more, but I'm a novice and don't really know anything about price. Maybe someone here will like it!

This is the ring my wife wants. This diamond is clarity enhanced. Which apparently is really really bad. But it's so pretty!!

Look at Lab Diamonds, that price isn’t rational for a clarity enhanced diamond.

Yes this! You could easily have that setting made, and you would have a perfect DVVS stone, for a fraction of the price… or if she is wanting a mined diamond, we can help you find a beautifully cut old euro, or a transitional would look right at home in a setting like that.

These are good value. I think the posts could be replaced easily if the screw backs are annoying.

These used to be around $600 usd.

I don’t know if they were flipped, I was following them a few months ago. (Clearly my eBay organizational skills are lacking!)

They still are really lovely, but one is yellower than the other and they are slightly different sizes I actually liked that.

Oh that's interesting! Who could make a setting like that?

There’s several incredibly talented jewelers on here… but I personally think David Klass would be perfect for this. He is very customizable, reasonably priced and a lot of people here use him…. Like a lot a lot … sometimes I feel like we keep him in business

Yes both great ideas/vendors to the two other answers.

Alex Park sells lab in old cuts check him out.

Southwest Diamond cutters can recut an existing lab.

Existing labs can have nice cuts see lab diamond thread.

This setting is a standard cast filigree not
antique. You can buy sterling and recast it or you can look for an original antique empty setting (one with a larger color stone for example) and put your lab diamond in it.

Etc lots of options

Looks designer to me but I csnt read the engraving

Not a big fan of the center ruby, but the setting is glorious
