Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

I actually did mention it in the thread where someone was looking for princess cut sapphires, but I bought it from Enhoerning Jewelry/Inken Krause. I bought and returned another ruby and told her what my requirements were, and was basically prepared to wait for a year or so, but she went to a top dealer and picked this one out for me.

Here's the picture I posted in that other thread.

Gorgeous! I know it’ll be a while but I can’t wait to see how you set it.

The stone is so clean and the transparency is so good. Is it medium tone or medium dark tone?

I think medium. Inken told me it's brighter than pigeon blood, but definitely vivid saturation. Depends on what you mean by medium-dark. I will have it sent to AGL for a Prestige report.

That is one amazing ruby! Beautiful!

Exactly!!!! I want a PSer to buy it SO BADLY!!!!!

:P2

Thanks @lovedogs for posting and sharing.

Pics in of the stone in the best lighting i.e direct sun. In the shade and under lights it’s a vivid color but doesn’t have the same wow factor. But when the light hits...

It does have tilt windows and goes dark at certain angles but after playing with it for the past day I think it’s a keeper.

Is this royal indigo color? Or just plain indicolite? Trying to figure out what it’s supposed to be called.

You got it? That’s awesome! And it looks incredible in your pic. :kiss2: That’s some serious wow factor. Any ideas for settings? Too soon? :twisted2:

@Bluegemz thanks for the praise. I will make a thread for sure after I get the ruby in hand.

@icy_jade that is a gorgeous indicolite! To me, I would say that "royal blue" is a darker saturation, like navy blue except with a slight purplish hue. I think yours looks a neon blue under sunlight. Tourmalines always look their best under sunlight, don't they? :geek2:

This is beautiful. I didn’t pull the trigger because the bank wire made me nervous. Icy_jade, if you decide this isn’t a keeper for you after you sit on it a bit (it can be years from now ;)2 ), I’ll happily buy it and be the next owner.

It's stunning when the light hits. Yeah it was described as neon but since it’s my first indicolite I’ve no idea what they usually look like.

Was planning on a pendant before I got it, but after I saw it under the light I had to have it as a ring. But then I worry about durability and having to baby it. Still can’t decide if I want to halo the heck out of it or go with a really small/simple halo for everyday wear. Yeah so really stuck at this stage. Ideas very welcomed! :P2

I know! I was like... hmm... but yeah he seems quite legit and luckily it was all good in the end.

Good news. You still have plenty of finger real estate available. I say halo the crap out of it. It’ll help protect the stone a bit and, hello, bling factor. :mrgreen2:

Gorgeous tanzanite ring, lovedogs!

May I ask the CS experts for opinions on the 1.3ct spinel stone @elle_71125 posted above? I’m considering it and being the noob I am with colored stones, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

That stone is definitely well city and a gorgeous color, near perfection. Among the best that I've seen. However, I think that the claim that a comparable ruby would cost for times the price is an overexaggeration. But a clean red spinel is so rare, as rare if not more rate than ruby, a seller can charge whatever price they can sell it for.

Appreciate the feedback! The color looks amazing to me (I’ve been smitten with red stones lately! :kiss2:), but I agree, the ruby price comparison seems ambitious.

Does anyone else have any comments on the spinel above? Hoping for more feedback =)2

@elle_71125 @stonewell
This spinel is smaller, but it's hot pink/red and even comes with a Lotus lab report stating untreated.
Limited time 10% off sale, I would buy if I wasn't being bad...thinks *must be responsible*...

That’s beautiful! I have a hot pink sapphire I had purchased from Dana that looks similar. And good reminder about being responsible - I *should* do the responsible thing too and just enjoy my new ruby ring, Scarlett. lol

I don't believe you've posted a thread on her. I just searched and only found a ruby halo around a diamond ring.

That’s the one... hahaha. She just got named today. :D

However, it’s not the same as precision cut jedi spinel - the struggle is real.

It's a beautiful stone which reads reddish pink to me on the photos but the seller (who is very nice btw) describes it as red. Perhaps some more photos against a white background would be helpful. I was looking at Africa Gems and they are now having a 25% off sale. Check out their site to look at the different shades of red spinel to help you judge what is your ideal red.

Yes, she’s been fantastic. Im expecting more photos tomorrow. So hopefully they’ll give more insight on the color.

Appreciate you pointing me to the Africagems site and sale! Looking it over, I am clearly drawn to the vivid reds. And why is it my eyes went straight to the 2.6ct oval?! There’s also a beautiful purplish red Asscher cut that looks yummy.
