I am very tempted by that sapphire. I've been looking for an unheated blue to put in a halo and that looks so nice....

Please get it and put me out of my misery. It is gorgeous.

Jeff Davies posted these last night and they are KILLING ME (well, except the rusty brown one that's a little out of place. But the rest!!)

jeff_davies_sapphires.jpg

15.76ct Sapphire set - Madagascar 5.5 x 3.5 mm - perfect matching clean, exceptional cutting and color, UNHEATED $2365 shipped

I really don't need 35 gorgeous little sapphires. I really just need one bigger one for an e-ring. But man are those pretty. Will someone please buy them before my trigger finger gets itchy and I start telling my European husband that in America when you love a girl very VERY much you buy her an engagement parure?

I feel like singing, "one of these things is not like the others. . . " from Sesame Street.

Okay laughing hard at that one, TL.

I could seem them flush set into a gypsy style bracelet cuff. Yum.

Oh my. Those are STUNNING.

Yes, I have. I really want it but have other projects on the burner right now.

Where are those emerald cut sapphires posted??? I can't seem to find them. *fail*

Has anyone else been drooling over this sapphire on LT? There's no way I can afford the price, but I keep coming back to this listing :)
it's exactly what I like in a sapphire, just the right amount of saturation and the right size (8mm) that I like.. *wistful sigh*

Mochiko: Did you see that the owner of that sapphire dropped the price? If you or someone else is interested, I would seriously contemplate making an offer; it surely looks like a gorgeous sapphire.

I read the scoop on yellow danburite being a hot stone in Tucson this year (per Gene at Precision Gem). It seems hard to find, but then I saw this one on LT. Nice size, cut, color and clarity! But it is still there??? Wonder why?

I would say its because based on the picture, it looks a mustardy yellow - in other words, with a brown component which makes it unappetizing to some.

The cutting looks sloppy too

Yes, the brown component is unattractive to me, maybe others. It's not easy to find a pure yellow stone without brown or orange.

So true

I'm not VL, but doesn't it sorta look like the meets aren't aligned on some of the facets, or is that some weird optical illusion?

I think you are mixing pavilion facets with crown facets. The crown facet meets look to be spot on.

Pavilion meets don't meet, 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock facet edge skewed

The color of this stone doesn't excite me much either. I'd still much rather get a yellow/golden or slightly greenish yellow chrysoberyl, or a golden beryl, rather than a yellow danburite, if I was after a yellow gemstone. Both of these stones can still be had at reasonable prices from what I see on the interwebs.

However, its possible I just haven't seen yellow danburite at its best...maybe Gene will have some to show us in the coming weeks!

That is a beauty! Minou, how can you stand to part with it? Something really special must be in the works... :appl:

I noticed this too, but are those a reflection of the pavilion facets. Is that some kind of illusion?

I also agree that the color is not vivid.

Can somebody please buy this 3 carat blue sapphire so that the rest of us can stop looking at it. 3 ct unheated Ceylon blue sapphire (looks to have a violet modifier) for only $3200 after the sale.

Great price for a 3ct sapphire, but it is to my understanding that while the photo shows a violet mod, the stone itself doesn't exhibit it. Just an FYI!

Is it possible that the angle of the stone in relation to the camera is causing this illusion? The stone isn't perpendicular to the camera so it looks "bent".

I don't mind if it is all blue (sans violet). Hmmmm.....has someone ordered this in the past and shared a review?

Did someone already post this?

An AGL Certified Pad Sapphire from our very own Minous? :appl: :appl:

http://www.diamondbistro.com/category/229/Sapphire/listings/36878/Ceylon-Padparadscha-Sapphire-w-AGL-Cert.html

Such a good price for such a rare stone!

Gorgeous color, and callibrated, too! IDJ can pop this into a stock setting for a great price.

Is this the same stone? If so, it sure seems to be making the rounds.
