@mrs-b I’m in Pa..I received notice it’s at the FedEx! I was supposed to be away this weekend in Maryland and knew it would be safe there until I got back..We got snow last night..and more is coming this weekend..so we could have potentially been snowed in there so stayed in Pa. My car’s computer system went crazy last night so it’s at the dealer..with no idea when it will be ready..and no one to take me to FedEx to pick it up except my mom...No way..I won’t even drive her car..You can hear it miles away! :lol: My husband is in New Jersey today so that’s out too..When the sun comes up tomorrow I’ll be stealing my hubby’s car and heading there to get it!

@mrs-b She’s here and she’s so pretty! I can’t find the inclusion I was worried about! She’s a white sparkle bomb! Blue Nile sent it in a ring holder but put it in crooked..I didn’t want to fiddle with it so left it as is. Even though my MRB is 2.03 and she is 2.06 she’s noticeably smaller than my MRB. I told David to beef up the halo and size of the diamonds. I can’t capture the fire bombs but here you go!

Definitely! We’re out but I’ll probably need to do it in sunlight tomorrow. It’s gloomy out today!

Very beautiful. And - to be frank - I knew you were worrying unnecessarily. That stone was always going to be amazing.

Re Blue Nile putting "the stone in crooked" - they haven't. All cushions are put in their spring settings like this, because the spring setting is twisted, given that it wraps around the finger and the band passes itself - one side on top of the other - on the way to the prongs. So it's not even, like a normal ring is. A round diamond isn't effected by this, but a square diamond can't be held equally.

However, there's no difficulty in popping it out and fiddling around with it. When I'm mucking around with my unset diamonds, I'll put them in and out a dozen times before I put them back in their boxes. I ALWAYS want to see how they look on my finger, so I always take them out to get some idea of that.

What size melee are you using? My new AVC is a little larger (.5mm roughly) than this diamond, and I'm using 2.6 - 2.7mm melee in the halo.

Thank you @mrs-b..I’m not sure what size melee I’ll be using..I want to beef up the halo so it’s bigger than my 8.11mm diamond..so trying to decide. I emailed David to send me the insured label and told him I need a push up bra halo! :lol: I want the halo bezeled but want the stones to be big enough to see and not look like part of the metal like you see sometimes. .05 is too small and .10 is too large so maybe the same as yours. I’ll have an outside bezel too..I think..Now that I have her I’m changing what I thought I wanted a little.
One thing I learned recently is when I reset my engagement ring to a low profile with four prongs..it looks so much smaller! Mine was a higher profile and six prongs. I may be resetting Lentil..maybe next year..as I have too many projects going on now. So..This ring will be a little higher..

I just have to say I had decided I favored MRB diamonds..but after getting this cushion with its chunky facets..I’m rethinking about what I think I prefer. I wonder if this would translate to OEC’s..:think:

I love MRB too and I thought I would love an EC when I reach my golden years:) but then seeing all your gorgeous antique cushions is making me rethink what I really want down the road. Ugh...PS is so bad...bad in a good way ;).

I so get this/feel ya! I’d wanted an Asscher Cut for soooo long, and had the one that I ordered from BN recently, but returned it. Something about it just didn’t ‘sing’ to me the way I expected it to. Maybe it was the cut, maybe what I thought I wanted in an assher isn’t what my eyes really want/like, or maybe I’m just not really a step-cut person in terms of owning/wearing one vs. admiring them. That said, I am glad that I have my OEC and MRB e-rings so I have some variety when I want to change things up.

I’ve been doing that since I joined Pricescope! It’s truly like being a kid in a candy store!
 
Hi all..I’m conflicted about how large my melee should be for my cushion. I know many prefer smaller diamonds for the halo..but my cushion is much smaller than my MRB and I don’t want a lot of metal. David suggested 2.5mm but I was thinking 2.75....I want it bigger than my 8.11mm mrb..I’m getting a very simple setting with the halo following the shape of the cushion..On the underside I wanted it very open so I can see the whole bottom of the stone..so it looks a little more modern underneath instead of the scrolly designed cages..which I do like but not for this stone. It will have a donut on the bottom but I’m going to ask him not to make it a large one. I just want space to stack a band next to it. I’m not having the stones go all the way down the sides just three and a little donut wrap around like I have in my present ring. Any opinions would be VERY appreciated! If you have photos of your cushion halos and size of melee that would be great! :kiss2:
