I don''t want to call anyone out on this personally... and maybe it is just a weird coincidence... but twice so far I have express interest in a product after someone linking the exact stone or setting and within a few days the price was jacked up by roughly 20% !@#$%^&* Maybe I just had some bad luck and it is just a coincidence but seriously... do you vendors really jack your prices up when you know you have a shot at a sell? If so that is just horrible. I would link the exact instances this happened in the last week or two but like I said, It could have been just a weird coincidence... but if it wasn''t a coincidence I am on to you and you know who you are!

The funny thing is... after holding out over a month on the setting that went form 1400 to 1700 the price went back down to the 1400s :)

It could be a coincidence. I am sure the vendors who post here are honest and decent.

Unless it''s not a Pricescope vendor! Lurkers can and have done lots of questionable things!

I'm sorry, but this bit made me chuckle.

In any case, if you feel a vendor has changed prices swiftly--you could always call them up and inquire?

Good point!

I''m really wondering why the OP chose the name "minorthreat"?

I didn''t notice that

Minor Threat was an early 80s punk rock band, maybe the OP's a fan?

You are the first one who has ever mentioned this so I don't think it's intentional, otherwise we'd all have experienced this practice. I have been watching several stones (and recommending them) for a year and the price hasn't changed. But whether it's a mistake or planned price increase you need to call the vendor and ask for the original price. Some of the favored vendors even give PS discounts.

There are price changes on things, though, that have to do with metal costs and their suppliers. It's worth a phone call to the vendor.

yes minorthreat this actually happened to me, the setting jumped up $20k when the vendor found out i was buying it, then it went back down the day after
its normal practice on this site

Yes, you are correct Minorthreat is the name of an 80s punk band which is a name I just used for forums and Aim for a long time.
Yes, I am very serious about price jumps.

Here is instance number one:
" 1.01 F VS1 for just over $5k." - Quoted from Jstarfireb. Now that exact stone is listed as 7300. When it was around 5400 about a week ago. See this thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/trying-to-find-good-deal-on-1-ct-princess-ideal.106917/

The other instance was a setting from JA originally priced at 1400ish then bumped up to 1650 the day after I emailed him I was interested. Then a month later the price goes down.. then yesterday I look and they aren''t even offering it in 14k any more.

Now I don''t doubt Goodoldgold wouldn''t hold true to his original price, it just urked me when it had already happened to me with a setting then a few weeks later it happened with a stone.

If you ever find an instance like that on my website bring it personally to my attention and I''ll look into it. If it was a typo or mistake and/or something I can honor I''m happy to do so. Our Signature Princess Cuts are all generally AGS ideal or GIA Ex/Ex with confirmed Ideal light performance. That particular diamond was an Ex/Ex we picked with that did have Ideal light performance at a less expensive price so if you''re interested in moving forward with it check out with it and I''ll be happy to honor the price it was at. From various cutting facilities that cut AGS Ideal Princess Cuts a 1ct F VS1 can easily go for the price you see listed though. If you check out between Sunday/Monday I''ll make the necessary adjustments on my back end.

Regards,

lol!

minorthreat, if you were planning on purchasing, then I guess now would be a good time in light of Jon's post..?

As the price of metals and stones changes, vendors update their site. Or they could have originally input the price incorrectly, it caught their attention, and they changed it to be in line with their other stock. It does happen ocassionally, but when vendors are notified of it they seem to either be able to justify the adjustments (gold jumped by $400/oz so I needed to raise prices to cover my costs, type of thing) or honor the original price.
