One of those big regrets for not snapping something up quickly enough. If it speaks sweet poetry to you, don't think it over!

These from the Romanov Russia site, priced at iirc $1900. I couldn't decide to pull the trigger, thought about them, looked again & again over a few weeks, couldn't get them out of my mind. Today wondered what I was waiting for....and they're sold. ;(

A Pair of Vintage Siberian Amethyst Solitaire Earrings

Made in Moscow between 1908 and 1917.

The earrings are set with two perfectly matched oval Siberian amethysts of a beautiful royal purple color with excellent fire.

The amethysts are 7 x 6 mm.

Both earrings are marked with 56 zolotnik old Russian gold standard (14K), Moscow assay stamp and maker's initials ' С Ч '.

I love amethysts. These looked dark but what color & saturation! Simple, elegant settings; given the website's expertise I believe they are Siberian ammies -- but it doesn't matter since I was too slow! A lesson to remember -- one I should've learned before!

I think we all have a piece of jewelry or a stone that got away :(sad It makes me so sad! ;( For me it was the Edwardian ruby and diamond ring that SDL sold 2 months ago to Circe. It still breaks my heart- at least I know the ring went to a wonderful PSer.

But those are gorgeous earrings. I love the oval cuts which I don't typically see in ammy's. just gorgeous!

JF,
I'm sorry they got away. I know it is of little consolation that although they are drop dead gorgeous, they are also overpriced. The tone and saturation is just perfect. The cutting looks darned good. The setting looks to be in excellent condition and hang down the ears at the right distance. I'm not helping much, am I?

JF, those are extremely beautiful. No wonder you could not get it out of your head.

This is the FIRST TIME I think an amythest is beautiful. I use to not care about them at all regardless of red or blue flashes. :!:

No, not much, Chrono. But I figure it's meant to be, or I would've bought them. The pricing was the hold-up for me -- high, but I still couldn't forget them. Whatever. I could get them made for less if I could find such nice ammies, Siberian or not.

I do have a lovely Zambian from Brad Payne with delicious red flashes -- will have to take pics & put it up. Not as fascinating as your trillion, though.

Live & learn, eh, OTL? I used to feel the same about peridots till I saw some here. Now I like them.

Pics, pics, pics!

Hi,

I am convinced that amethyst is one of the most beautiful stones you can get for an affordable price. I love it. I own a zambian as well, and have gifted this stone to my nieces. We should recommend this stone more often for those on a budget, although the earrings were pretty expensive. Beautiful color on them.
