I love colored sapphire briolette jewelry. A local jeweler used to carry a number of Barbara Heinrich pieces that I thought were stunning. The prices were stunning as well, so I never got anything.

That ring looks like a fun piece, but not for me and not at that price.

"Jolie laid" literally means beautifully ugly.

Hard to translate but it can also be homely yet somehow so very chic and elegant and the parts by themselves would be ugly but together they are somehow beautiful. If you've ever seen a pic of the Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson, she was the very definition of the phrase. Same was said of Coco Chanel. I'm trying to think of who would fit it today, perhaps Lady Gaga...
