DW would think I've gone completely off my rocker if I suggested we watch Ruyi's Royal Love!!!
DW would think I've gone completely off my rocker if I suggested we watch Ruyi's Royal Love!!!
You just can't take this somewhere else!
How will I ever find out about such can't be missed things as Ruyi's Royal Love???
DW is quite surprised enough at my jewelry addiction! Often when we go out to dinner she insists I change clothes, either because she thinks they don't match, or are unsuitable, or have a stain on the front visible only to her eagle eye!! This morning, as she was leaving the house, we both got a laugh when she asked me if the pendant she was wearing matched her outfit! And who says you can't surprise your spouse 10, 20, 30 years or more into a marriage? Lol
Surprise!
ChaiK, you are the smart one, I am way dumber than you!Noooo, k. won't take this off. It is just sometimes, you know, I do dumb stuff (like SOAK my jade in dishwasher water) . And really want that dumb thing to be private. But because it is dumb and I am not sure of how to salvage it, I have to ask here.....and then my dumbness shows.
Everyone wants to look smart. Me too!
Oh, but you must. It is lovely. I catch glimpses of it and sigh. And preen and pine, by my mirror, combing my hair.... and with my jadeite fingers......
And....omg do laundry and imagine I pick up a ruby or two from the rivers.....
I only dream of things like that When watching Ruyi Palace.

I'm still sore from the tongue lashing I got when I mixed up icy and glassy!!!!
Hi @mellowyellowgirl
This is only me, with my very little experience, but I am afraid the color is too pale, and not intense enough.
With that one, you will get neither iciness nor color
So for me, it will be a no go.
My 2 cents in post aboveLadies, we came across a couple of jade items today, and I would appreciate your expert advice as to their quality. The first is an orange jadite ring. I don't remember if we've discussed orange jade before, so I've no idea if this would be considered high quality. The second photo shows it's of good size, but the color is more accurate in the first photo. I suspect the price might be high at $2,600.
The second is a strand of green jadeite beads. They are graduated up to 16mm but the color varies considerably from bead to bead, and there is a lot of mottling. Having said that they look pretty darned good around DW's beautiful neck, and the price seems OK at $1,500.
Opinions please, pretty please!
All true unfortunately. It's so difficult finding good quality jade in the USA, the urge to scratch the itch can overcome one's better judgement. Much better to keep the powder dry until the right pieces come along, thanks for setting me straight @Burmesedaze!!Orange is rare but not unheard of, just not mainstream. Fine glutinous grain but not icy enough for me and no dome. I won't pay that much. Unlikely to have large resale value (that's how I justify 4 digit purchases) as it's not in demand.
Green one pass. Glutinous uneven weak colour. It's just big.
@voce in the USA I don't ever remember seeing a certified grade A item priced at less than $1,000. The vast majority of jade pieces for sale here are not certified, so when a piece is certified it seems like the vendors just add a zero to the price. Of course there are lots of supposedly certified pieces, but the cert turns out to be from an Asian lab nobody has ever heard of.
Omg! That's gorgeous if it hasn't been dyed. Hope the results come back nicely for you. Are you sending it to GIA or AGL?An impulse buy as I know little about jade..so feel free to educate me with your thoughts.
Not crazy that it looks like an eggplant but I fell in love with the large size, translucency and hue (not grey overtones I see in a lot of lavender pieces). It's being certed (sold as Burmese Type A) before being set as a drop pendant.
