Thanks SS. Wow, that’s a good sized spessartite! I''ve heard that having microscopic inclusions bounces the light back differently, giving the stone a slight soft glow.

What a mini-sun. I love the colour!
I just love when you see a picture of a dull background, whether it''s skin, dirt, a grey card, and then this vivid color comes off of it. It looks almost 3D.Date: 6/3/2009 11:15:12 PM

it really contrasts sharply against my skin
I think there''s a solar flare coming off the bottom of your stone in that picture!Date: 6/3/2009 11:27:27 PM

Remind me to put on my nuclear blast protection glasses next time I view your spessartites. I think I just blew a retina looking at that pic, not to mention my rapid pacing heart!!Date: 6/4/2009 12:42:50 AM

Awww well don''t worry, I won''t be able to post a few more until Friday or so, but I hope the new photoshoot will be worth the wait...

Chrono - I stand corrected. Looks like all garnets are type II stones. I got that from a site that was trying to sell a more included garnet, I should have known better and checked before posting. However, according to Pala gems, the stones from Nambia tend to be more included than other varieties, but the inclusions may help contribute to that wild glow.
SS - I love the new photos.can''t wait to see more
