I have this OGI 18K white gold stacking band and am looking for other stacking bands to go with it. The OGI band has a tiny engraved/raised design on the sides, I imagine to act as a little spacer and protect the ring from damage while being worn with other stacking bands. That would be fine if I stacked it with other gold OGI bands, but I have seen some cool Tiffany channel set bands in platinum with smooth sides on Ebay that I think might look good too. Will the white gold band damage the platinum one? There are no diamonds or stones on the sides of either ring, just metal.

Has anyone worn a white gold band with a platinum for any length of time and noticed damage? Thanks in advance!

The metals may start to look different over time. The white gold band may yellow a bit due to the natural oils in your skin.

Here are some threads you may find helpful regarding wear and tear:
White gold next to platinum

alloy hardness

Thanks for the response, Amy. So far, I haven''t read or heard anything that would make me believe that wearing a platinum band next to a white gold band would cause major damage to either ring. The rings would not be worn daily anyway, so I think it''s worth a try!

Beautiful ring! My gold band digs into my plat. ring when worn together. If you''re only going to wear them together sporadically, I don''t think they should be too much of a problem. Especially since they''re both channel set, and the milgrain is on the gold ring, not the plat. ring. If it were the other way around I wouldn''t wear them together often.

I probably would not do it. The different hardness of WG and Plat would cause scratches.

NEU, my original wedding band was platinum and my e-ring is white gold, and after about 6 months of daily wear, I noticed scuff marks on my e-ring setting.

I bought a replacement wedding band right away in white gold, because I was worried about what other damage I might do to my ring.

Thanks, onvacation, Laila, and Lauren! I finally found what I think is the perfect stacking band to go with my ring. I contacted Patti at SingleStone about mixing metals and she said it is OK, but they can make me the ring in white gold so no worries. I think I would rather collect stacking bands in one metal or the other, and my first one is white gold, so I will probably go in that direction. Here is the ring from SingleStone that I think is the best fit for my band. If I get the great job I just interviewed for, I am going to go for it:

Thanks, Amy. This is not the only stacking band I want from SS! They are all so pretty!
