I purchased a small star ruby recently and I love it. It fluoresces pink and has a very clear star. It is only 5mm x 5.3 mm. I bought it thinking to have it bezel set into a sliding pendant in yellow gold or rose gold but not sure is it is just too tiny... at the same time, I don't it to be too large either as I am petite in stature. Or... maybe into a bracelet? Is the star ruby too soft or fragile to wear as a bracelet though?

If the ruby isn't too included, it should hold up extremely well in a bracelet. A cabochon has no facets to chip and corundum is durable enough for everyday wear.

Here are some pics of my ruby. Sorry for the non close ups... it is as close as I can get without being blurry.

What about as a ring? It looks perfect for that.

But a bracelet would work too, or perhaps a bangle?

That's a charmer! I love the color.

I think it would be a tasteful slide pendant - even a smaller gem's pop of color really stands out. You see lots of diamond pendants at that size.

Another fun option would be to pair it with a larger moonstone for a pendant, in rose gold.

It might be small to you, but it sure looks like a beautiful stone.

It's far too small for anything for you - I think you should send it to me. :naughty:

I think it'd be great as a ring. It packs a lot of punch.
