Still casually looking at star sapphire rings, still not very knowledgeable, lol.

So I would love hear some opinions on these 3.

#1:
2ct sapphire. It's the smallest, but has a clear star pattern.

#2:
3.9 ct sapphire, largest of the 3, and same price as #1. Like the color of the sapphire and the ring design, but I can see some inclusions.

#3:
2.3 ct sapphire, and the priciest of the bunch. But I really like the color and the translucence of the stone.

All 3 rings are in the $800 - $1000 range, set in platinum. Are the prices fair?

TIA for reading through and sharing your thoughts :)

for stars, it's super hard to find anything desirable right now online -- and that's been the case for at least five years, imo.

You can't make any of those rings without the star sapphire for that price so that sounds "fair."

I think the second one would be the most fun to wear and stare at in different lights. It also may just be the most misleading photo -- no way to know.

I think no 3 is the nicest ring.
one thing about Star sapphires though, if the base colour is pastel, and most are, to enjoy the “Star” you need a direct and bright light source. So unless you’re outside in the sunshine or under a direct bright light, the “Star” will be almost invisible most the time. Especially under fluorescent office lighting and inside nightie lighting. Vendors photos showing the Star will always be under bright light to show the optimal performance but real life situations are rarely optimal.

Nice color and nice star in one stone cost a fortune, so you'll have to make compromises at that price range.

I like colour , translucency and design ring #3 the most but how sharp/straight is its star and its "legs"? Are there photos showing the stars?

Apart from still images, are there videos showing how the star reacts to light? I have seen stars on sapphires appearing AWAY from the light source ( as though they are trying to escape from the light:-o).

I don't know much about star sapphires but the 3rd one is pretty and I love the setting.

I'd ask for videos if possible to see the asterism and whether the star is oriented well or only if the stone is lopsided.

1's star to me doesn't have strong well defined legs. Also, 2 ct pastel star sapphires with decent asterism and crystal are only a few hundred tops.

2 and 3 might be better quality/value.
