I just realized I never posted this one before. I lost my spreadsheet when my computer crashed a few months ago so of course I don't have the stats on it anymore but it is 11 x 8.5 star sapphire. The color shifts from a deep blue to a grayish blue with a hint of purple so not top color by any means. This was another purchase from the HK International Gem Show that I went too. The star is very apparent and strong in most lighting. I do plan on setting this but really want an antique setting so I guess I"m waiting for the right one to come along. I need to start trolling ebay maybe.

How does the star look on the back of your hand? How antique are you thinking? Art Deco or some other?

It reminds me of Uppy's star sapphire in James Meyer setting

Sarahb did the sapphire come with any lab report? I know nothing about the trade show you went to so I don't know whether the vendors there are reliable or not but something that is always a bit of a "stop and make me think" moment is when I see a star sapphire with very straight legs, well centered and with a strong asterism. Unfortunately this CAN be a sign of a BE diffused star. Not always but sometimes. I can't remember how you can tell - Chrono/VL/TL/Minou may recall. Yours is lovely and I do hope it's not a man made star but I just wanted to mention it in case you didn't know. I hope you don't mind me mentioning it?
