Step Cut. Tanzanite with Half Moons in Plat JB Star setting

I've been meaning to put together a thread about my ER reset project which included putting a tanzanite into my previous setting but don't ever seem to find enough time. So until I get my act together, I thought you other colored stone fans might like to at least see the photos taken by my appraiser. I looked at lots of stones and this one won my heart -- it was the perfect size for the project and the color blew away everything else I saw. Stats: 3.83 ct violetish-blue in daylight/bluish-violet in incandescent light, VS clarity in a plat setting featuring 2 half moon 0.68 tcw and eight square cut diamonds 0.29 tcw, all graded VS1, F-G. Huge presence on the finger -- I'll try to get some hand shots over the weekend. I sourced the tanzie myself and had Steven Kirsch make a new basket and put it into the setting at the same time he crafted a new setting for my 2.57 RB diamond...more on that later!

I love half moons as side stones with a square cut. Can't wait to see the whole ring.

Hi, mrs-b. Steven Kirsch did the setting. I provided the center stone and he sourced the pears. I'm in the process of moving this week but as soon as I land in my new home and have access to my files, I can provide more details if you're interested.
