Do I have a hand in selecting the stone or no input whatsoever?
No input
This is horrible! I can't choose the cut or clarity?! What if it's a piece of cr@p?!
I chose a ruby. I have so many of the other stones, except citrine, which I don't want. I'd hate to have a poor quality emerald. I could always use another ruby, even a cr@p one.
How's that for a pathetic answer?
Ok
Ill pick citrine if you dont want it
Oh sad
no one has picked peridot or topaz
so long as they have a nice colour, is big and nicely cut with no window I'll take them
This is a great question. I haven't been able to choose at all, yet.
I'd be much closer to a decision if I could participate in choosing even just one variable of the stone. Like, a large spinel, a Lightning Ridge opal, an untreated ruby, the perfect blue sapphire, a Mahenge or demantoid garnet, etc. Or, even if I could choose the lapidarist---I love virtually all of the stones from Joyce or Zava Mastercuts,
Or, I'd also be happy to just choose any vividly colored or well-cut stone without choosing the type of stone.
Having to think through the many, many variables that go into beautiful colored stones, I'm not surprised that diamonds are more frequently gifted. (Just guessing that's the case, but Idk.)
Truthfully, though, I'm touched by sentiment more than perfection so I still happily wear my poorly-cut-not-at-all-good-quality-amethyst ring from JTV given to me by my son when he was just a little boy. I treasure the fact that he knew I liked jewelry so he chose something for me from the only source he knew how to find. So much thought went into that one little gift. It means the world to me. <3
Edited to add: (Sadly, I expect far more from my husband.)
Are we allowed a pictute of this love from your son ?
