Stone choice and why?

Well, 1 in 4 males is said to be colour blind to a certain degree, meaning cannot distinguish certain colour hues (and can vary which colour someone is colour blind to).

Is this true? It explains so much! My partner's interpretation of certain colors is so bonkers.

I feel bad for topaz because i have it on my shopping list to replace a much too dark midnight blue saphire (it was blue in the shop!)
I desided this thread needed pictures
and this pinky ring still wants a big sister

l have a low grade Emerald , don"t wear it, just keep in my jewelry box. I picked blue topaz because the ugliest blue topaz is prettier than the ugliest ruby / sapphire. Etc.
Obviously it’s far from my favorite stone but if I have no input and it’s a gif from someone I love and I’d be expected to wear it whatever it looks like…. Topaz is the safest bet.
This answer is truly based on the question not my favorite stone.

And if I tell my husband "its GOT TO BE a blue topaz and don't spend over XXX", he won't deviate. he will be like "uh uh, I have to come back with that because she'll get mad otherwise". It might not be beautiful, but it will be blue.

I can handle the waste of money from blue topaz more than I can from the others on the list.

This is such a kind gesture, @autumngems!! I can't believe I missed the poll... life has been busy and I am too late to vote, but I would definitely vote for sapphire as well. I have always had a soft spot for blue, and it is my husband's birthstone and has other life significance as well. This is such a cool idea, and robotsunfish is lucky indeed! I hope we get to see a photo!

Now, this is a perfect example of how sentiment means more to me than any of the other qualifiers. If someone I've never met is kind enough to gift me with any kind of stone I would be blown away & I would treasure whatever type of gift given.

Heck, I have literally kept polished rocks given to me when I was a teen by a very kind, very elderly gentleman who polished rocks as a hobby. He could not polish very many at a time because I think he only had a small rock polisher. (Vaguely recall this info from my parents.) So, he would bring a handful of polished rocks to church and give them to various people each week. It was his way of giving back and it was all he was able to give. IIRC, he was a widower and I'm sure he was lonely.

The poll is already closed but I'd vote for a 3 ct asscher blue sapphire with that seductive silky Kashmir glow.
If I got two choices next would be a perfect-color 2.5 ct asscher Burma ruby.

If I have no input, I wouldn’t want any stone gifted to me because I know whomever bought it, would probably get ripped off.

I would probably choose amethyst since at least it would be less pricey. It might be low quality or synthetic though.
