Stuck, confused and in need of help with saving my e-ring

Yes beryl is a soft stone.

If you want a tops to look like a sapphire I fear you might be disappointed they will give you that’s “ fake sapphire” look that those Chatham sapphires had.

Then I am seeing a garnet in this ring's future - a bit more every minute.
I could reserve the blue for the future sapphire ring.

In clothes, I wear lots of jewel tones - with navy and burgundy/wine being my favorite colors.
So a garnet might be the best answer to this one. I checked Bespoke Gems and they seem to have some nice rough there.

At the same time...I think that even a non-typical topaz that looks more like a sapphire than an actual topaz...will NOT look like "fake".
It wasn't the color that was the problem with the Chathams - but the "feel" of the material. Sharp, perfect, glassy.
I doubt any natural topaz - regardless of the color - would do that.

Just because it IS the right size:

Depth not listed....... It would be a sparkler!

Waow...you really nailed the size, digdeep! I was yet to see a stone of any kind with my beryl's exact dimensions.

Unfortunately, the color would not work.
It is light and watery and I am looking at deep, vibrant and saturated.

If there was one person in this world who handles anything pastel really poorly - this is me.

I spent my youth trying to make "pastel/beige/light, ethereal colors" work on me ...because, go figure, I thought they were tasteful and refined.... only to make myself look consistently blah and plain-Jane in just about everything.

If you haven't already, I'd also suggest checking out MC's spinel options. This one just needs a pavilion tweak:

Deep raspberry/plum spinel
5.460cts
12.6 x 8.6 x 5.3mm
Untreated
$982.80

Thank you, Sparkliest! Wao...that is nice too. I didn't think a Spinel at this size would be in my budget - so that's a consideration. I need to show it to my jeweler.

I wonder what the cut is like - as I really want the stone to scintillate, not just "sit there", kind of like my beryl was doing.

Sure thing!

Right now, I think it'd just sit there. But that's why I'd have someone you know and trust tweak the pavilion. I definitely think that'd bring it to life and be worth the small fee.
