Costco has this diamond stud:

Princess Cut 0.75 ct, I, VS2, 14K gold for $1300

Versus, BN is having a 10% off sale, so the final cost is, with $100 more than the Costco one, you can get:
Princess Cu 1.0 ct, I, SI2, cut: good, 18K gold

Can you experts please, please tell me:

1. For this size(0.37-0.5ct) of studs, do I really need to get certified stones(it''s about $300 more)? For a ring, I will definitely pay the premium, just not sure about the small stones.

2. Assume you approve me to buy these pre-set earrings like I listed above, can you really tell the difference in clarify and cut for these size of stones? My only criteria is that it has to "spark". If they both are dazzling, of course the bigger the better. Which one would be your pick?

3. Princess cut is slightly cheaper than round, does it have a "cheap" image associated with it (please, by no mean of offending princess cut lovers)?

Thank you very much for you advices!
