Stuller Setting Question

I think I am just going to go with Stuller as it will be easiest and not risky for my timeline. That said, I have a few questions. If anyone could answer some or all it would be super, super helpful

1) Does anyone know the head and shank used in either of the two below? Most of their engagement rings show the head and shank components but these two dont.

2) Do you think there is any difference between a solstice shank setting and a solstice peg setting head? They look about the same (minus the peg), but if you compare the videos, it seems like the ring with peg head (2nd link) holds the diamond much more closely with less open space.

3) Does a solstice head have to go into a solstice shank? For instance, in ring below it has solstice head with solstice shank. Can that head instead be used in a non-solstice shank like the 2nd link below?

Yes, the main difference is circled here. My personal taste is for the one on the right (non-peg head) because I hate the gap that is present between the shoulder and the head on the left (peg head) setting.

From what it looks like, the solstice-specific shank is contoured to fit around and lock into the Solstic head for a more flush look (as in the picture above to the right). Not a jeweler, but that is how it appears the stock components are designed to work together. That said, it's always possible for a bench to modify stock components to suit (with additional cost, etc).

ETA: isn't your jeweler back yet?

I agree with you there for sure. Definitely prefer it set into shank, just don't want a high shoulder at all. I was just asking whether the head itself is any different. Like if you cut the peg off the peg head, will it look exactly the same as the solstice shank head? Or are there other differences besides just the peg?

Jeweler is not back yet unfortunately.

Correct me if I am wrong but the ring below looks very similar to a solstice head (see 4th picture). That is pretty much exactly what I am looking for in a Stuller setting (no high shoulder and relatively low profile prongs). What combo of head and shank do you think would work to replicate that look? Looking for just a classic half round shank (no extreme knife edge or flat band).

I did a search for Solstice open shanks (the type that works with the head set into the shank, not the peg head) on the Stuller components and these are the 4 options that came up for the set-in-the-shank type head. Hopefully that link works and will auto-populate the options.

Thank you for that. However, it looks like none of those shanks are like the ring below which confirmed is a modification of a Stuller stock setting.

Does anyone have any idea of how to make this combo? Looks like a solstice head on a nonsolstice half round shank, around 2.0mm wide.
