Sturdy chain that doesn't snag hair?

Hi all . Does anyone know of a strong chain that doesn't snag long hair?? I think it was the round chain (or snake round) and the box chains that gave me major grief. I'm having a pendant made and I need the chain to be hefty and durable in strength because the gemstone is very precious to me. I know the bale has to be strong too but the chain has me wondering.

My favorite is Belcher, they are round, open links - a strong chain. Also I have a modified flat curb link. It’s more slinky and smooth. With the Belchers you have to check the link width. I love my think Belcher but only 2 of my pendants have a big enough bale to fit on it. Hence buying the slimmer version.
Box chains are the worst to me, they break too easily I found AND can’t be repaired.

The Belcher looks like a cable chain aka a rolo chain but with wider rings. I'll check it out because it appears sturdy and comfy which is my main criteria!! I like the look of the flat chain too.

Hm, okay thank you! And you don't find that your hair gets wrapped around the chain and ends up in a tangled mess?

JDDN, I usually don't. If it catches on my hair it's more the clasp than the chain and I'll move that chain to a pendant I rarely ware. I recently got one of those adjustable length box chains and it doesn't catch in my hair.

Stay away from those popcorn or ball chains - they tear the hair out at the back of my neck and I can't wear them for more than a few minutes or so. Every time I take them off, there's always a dozen or so hairs that come away with the chain. Not good!

This is good information because I have this same terrible problem. Snake chains are the worst. It seems that the openness of a chain helps doesn't it? I have a couple figaros that don't catch. I love the old handmade chains in all metals and would love to have a hefty 22" some day.

Almost all mine now are box chains. I did solve the problem. I cut my hair.

I love box chains and wear them 24/7. I have long thick hair and it never gets stuck in the chain. However, some of the clasps are a big problem. I can't figure out what the difference is, and usually have my jeweler solder the jump rings. I note that a lobster claw is more apt to tangle in my hair than a spring clasp. Definitely snake chains snag and I even won't try a Singapore or popcorn style. Some of the real dainty ones that have tiny interlocking loops will snag and tangle so I stay away from that style too.
