I have a 2 carat round stone and want to upgrade my solitaire to a halo with a subtle split shank. (y shapes, not double rows). I don't want too much metal showing on the profile between the halo and the shanks. Anyone have a similar ring? Any advice on the width/melee of the halo and shanks?. Thanks so much!

There was a Steven Kirsch (I believe) split shank that was posted on SMTB a few months ago that I believe is exactly what you're looking for. I've searched and searched and I can't seem to find the thread. Maybe some of our more saavy PS'ers can help find the thread, but really, it sounds to me like it would be exactly what you were looking for.

I found it! I'mi so pleased

dangit. I totally missed that you wanted a halo.

After a lot of going back and forth I've decided on a custom ring through a local jeweler. Not sure how to attach pics of the CAD (or any attachment for that matter

Hiya OP,

i saw a couple of post regarding rings made some of the preferred pricescope vendors:

LM & ERD would also have splitshank halos!

Re: subtle split shank- added my CAD

Thanks for all the pics, I've loved looking on pricescope to get inspiration! I was torn between using VC, LM, and SK- but ultimately I didn't want to ship the stone and decided to support a local jeweler. Also the price was significantly less, although I do realize much of this is using a CAD and not hand forged. I've attached CAD photos and will report back with actual photos probably mid-late June ;)

That's the spec of her setting.
1.8mm halo
- 2.0mm shank (~1.6mm where it splits)
- Shallow u-cut pave
- Wire-based design (vs plate/tube)

here is a video of the round one.

Cant wait to see your final ring!

That ring is so pretty! My center stone is smaller and my jeweler probably doesn't do the u-cut pave like VC. Looking at his other works and the differences with size, I opted for 1.2-1.3 mm halo, 1.3 mm shanks to combine to a 2.2 mm shank. His 2.2 mm versus the 2.0 mm obviously popped each stone much more; even though I love thin bands, I wanted a shared prong or u-cut pave look to it and I didn't think he could do it at 2.0mm. If I ever get an upgrade ring, I will most likely go with VC!
