Thanks, @SimoneDi! I got a lot of encouragement from your upgrade journey and gorgeous stones. It also help to show my DH that this is totally a normal thing to do. :mrgreen2::P2

Awe! I am glad I can help lol :D yeah, totally normal! I will be holding off on future upgrades for now, but I do think that they are worth it at the right time! I think you did great with your upgrade, the diamond is really pretty and very white! Wear it in good health!

Thanks, @GearGirly... I loved the solitaire setting the first time, however, I think it looks even better this time with the new stone. I also have a real soft spot for the halo ring - that is from my "third time is the charm" cushion project. :mrgreen2:

Hopefully, I'll have an expanded family photo once the other two pieces come in... looks like it'll be closer to mid/late September though. Fingers crossed!

I'm in process of upgrading my current diamond from JA too. Although, much smaller than yours. I have a G currently and was looking at J's, after seeing your beautiful K, I'm tempted to look at them! My setting is white gold though, unfortunately. Maybe I could change that too..

Were you able to see the K first before you sent in your ring for the upgrade through JA? How does that process work?

Oh yay, I love upgrades! lol Yes, I actually had the K sent to me before deciding and sending my ring in. According to JA, it isn’t the normal path upgrades take, but my DH insisted I made sure it was what I wanted. I’m glad I did. My worry was even though I could’ve returned the new ring, my original stone would’ve likely been long gone.

Some things to consider if you have the stone sent to evaluate it:
  • You have to prepay for the stone. I know this isn’t necessarily possible for everyone, but I floated the charge on a credit card (thank you, Amex!) since I would’ve decided well before the bill was due. Make sure they apply the advantage pricing at this time.
  • Before it’s sent, also make sure they provide you an ASET image and have the prosumers here confirm it’s worth viewing in-person. If the stone is local, that can be easily done. However, if it’s overseas, prepaying for the stone was the only way to obtain one.
  • This path does end up reducing your return period for the finished ring. Sending the stone back and forth, and adding in the setting modifications for the new stone meant I had about 4 days left after I received the final ring.
  • It makes for a complicated order since there will be one for the stone and then another one for the upgrade/new setting or modification. I recommend asking to work with Josh. He’s the CS manager and can properly process the refund when your upgrade is approved.
Overall, it was really an easy process for me - even if it wasn’t for them. :lol-2:
