Was just reading through this thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/greatgemthai-seller-on-ebay.146836/ and had a thought: Would it be helpful & possible to create a sticky thread (so it doesn’t get lost/buried) containing info/links/etc. for known reputable gemstone labs and pertinent information about them when questions arise, much like we have for reputable CS vendors?
While personally my CS-buying has slowed down some over the last year (just have higher priority things going on), I know when I have considered past purchases, I’d see a bunch of lab certs for stones from multiple countries, and didn’t want to start a new thread every time I questioned that lab’s validity/reputation/etc. Having one thread with a list and information updated as needed would be helpful to consult when considering a stone from a lab as well as any pertinent info to note about their certs, etc. to hopefully help avoid possible scam certs. For instance, I know my Alex cert was provided by AIGS a few years back; however, AIGS then changed their cert format somewhat which - when I went back to consult my cert at one point - it had me wondering if I’d been scammed with a fake cert because it differed from what was on their website when I went to look mine up. Thankfully, it wasn’t a scam/was a legit cert, but I had a day or two of panic until I was able to confirm the cert, given the time zone difference.
Thoughts?
