I'm wondering if you would share artists/benches who would be able to create earrings similar to these? They appear very simple and delicate, but for me that means I would want meticulous workmanship.

My stones are oval. Earrings must be 18k or even 22k yellow gold. I want very delicate bezels, wire showing no thickening or visible solder marks where they join the bezel. Balance of the earring is also paramount. Sometimes I've seen bezeled earrings that tilt back from the ears instead of straight down.

Could you use whomever made those? They appear to well constructed, well proportioned and elegant.

I've asked Jill in the past, she said she doesn't do floating bezels like this.
I'm curious who you find because I had a similar idea for a pair of Uli umbalites, just dangles... Please keep us posted.

You'd think a simple design would be easy to make. Daniel M has a pair of similar earrings posted, but the bezel is much thicker. Looks like stock bezels. And IMO, their finishes are hit or miss.

Hmmm. I wonder if it would be better to cast something like that since you want it really clean. It could be one solid piece instead of two put together. Could you go with Whiteflash or someplace like that?

I get what you're saying. The stones are two different sizes. Do you think cast would be delicate enough? It would just be easier to have them dangle on shepherd's hooks, but I'd really like them stationary.

I think the best way to get the look you want would be to have the jeweler drill a tight hole (the wire should just be able to fit through) through the bezel and solder it from the inside. Then, snip off the extra wire from the inside and file flush. This way, there would be no widening where the wire meets the bezel and the join would be very strong.

Thank you Lady D!! Now I know how to express my image.

I so enjoy the richness of the experiences that are shared here!! :read:

I'm not sure that this can be cast. It'll need the proper strength to carry all that weight (stone and metal bezel) balanced on a single point on the bezel at the end of a thin piece of wire. In addition, it must be angled properly to counterbalance the stone and setting to face straight when worn. Most Etsy artists do not do collet settings, preferring the heavier fully enclosed bezel.

Uppy,
How is the symmetry of your spinels? If the outline is even just the slightest bit off, a bezel or collet setting will further accentuate that.

That's a concern, Chrono. I'm going to have to wait until they arrive on Monday. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I also received high magnification pictures (which I've chosen not to post) which show ample evidence they are not man made. The magnification pictures of gems are equivalent to magnifying one's own face to that level. Can be scary on some level. I've really got to see them IRL to assess them well.

Great that you were shown the magnified typical natural spinel inclusions. Yes, let's wait until the stones arrive.
