Have you seen this recent thread.

It''s my fave 2ish carat e-ring currently! Though I also love Kaleigh''s glam Round with Pears combo!!

Are you leaning toward staying in the "engraved/antique" family ... going more modern ... pave? FUN PROJECT! What a pretty stone to "makeover"!

Your setting looks a little top heavy. I vote for a new setting altogether.

I see all the halo settings that look great but will this hide the stone and keep light from it?
Not really - in many the center diamonds is kept afloat by small prongs - these are not (all) bezel settings. In these open halos the pavilion of the stone would not be completely in shadowed, especially if the girdle sits a bit over the diamond -studded frame below.

This is 1.3cts... I think:

Besides, a well cut diamond would not need a high (or open) setting to catch light. This matter is pretty well explained on this thread

You could find out whether your diamond need an open setting or not by testing its light return with an Ideal Scope or ASET tool (or asking an appraise that does cut quality testing to help with that).

2 cts in a halo makes a rather respectable sight, IMO. And in a lower setting, the diamond would get to cover more of your finger anyway.

Even a sapphire halo

You already have a large stone so you can stay away from halos. Just have them set the stone "high". This will enhance the size of the stone. Just bear in mind that a stone set high will have a tendency to catch on things.

I recently had my 2ct reset in a halo, and I love the look. I wanted a ring that didn''t require a wedding band though, so this may not work for you. But this gives you an idea of what the halo looks like on a stone the same size as yours.

No I didn''t mrssalvo, and thank you so much for the compliment. This is the setting that my jeweler tried to duplicate with my original rings, and it just didn''t work for me. Diamonds by Lauren did the new setting, and I''m really pleased with it. They were wonderful to work with.

Lora, That is a beautiful ring! May I ask what it cost to do that setting? Who did the work for you? Thank you!!

I also have a 2 carat RB and I recently changed my Ering setting from a Vatche X-prong to a Derco 6 prong solitaire with MEDIUM height. There was a lower prong setting and a higher one, but this one looked best to me. Let me try to post them both so you can see how the diamond looks a bit bigger in the 6-prong than in the X-prong. First pic is the new setting.

Thanks PoisonIvy, I have gotten so many compliments on this setting. I had it done at Diamonds by Lauren, they even have it pictured on their web site under "semi-mounts". (www.diamondsbylauren.com) The cost was $1500.00, and from start to finish took one week. I highly recommend them, their service and quality are just wonderful. I
