Suggestions pls! Wedding Jewelry $2k Budget

The dress looks beautiful on you! I would do studs and a piece of costume jewelry for your necklace. Maybe something that comes to a "V" shape.

Beautiful ring! Very unique and classy. I love your dress too and I agree that some statement drop/dangle earrings would be lovely.

@Calliecake , that's so funny too about my girl looking like your niece. I get comments all the time from people saying"your daughter looks just like...." I guess she just has one of those faces. :)

@ladyonthelake My niece is in her mid twenties now and looks exactly like Elisabeth Olsen (actress). I wish she was still your daughters age.

I’m also in the earring camp—if you wear a necklace I’d keep it in the 16-17 inch range... very close to your neck and away from the neckline of that gorgeous dress. You will surprise yourself with studs—You’ll see that they stay in just fine and you won’t worry about them! Get them early just to practice. :halo:

Hmmm. I would probably find beautiful nice statement earrings to wear. Leave the neck and wrist bare. Super feminine, sexy yet graceful. Then I would use that 2k budget to find something beautiful as a wedding gift to rock leading up to and after for as long as you want. I like the VCA pendent that was suggested as well as the diamond pendant and bracelet options. 2k right hand ring wouldnt be bad either. Signifying this special time!

Thank you for all of your amazing suggestions and kind compliments!! I'm super excited to marry my FI and wear that gorgeous dress!:love::love:

I did a lot of thinking today (and went down a major statement jewelry rabbit hole while watching the Superbowl). Here's what I've come up with:
  • I definitely want to stay away from pearls. When I was modeling the dress, I paired a few of my different pearl necklaces and didn't think they worked very well, so @tyty333 you are totally right!
  • I've decided to definitely wear a statement necklace for the reception! I'm leaning towards a v-shaped (great suggestion @Staceyjan!) I found this one at Macy's that I like a lot: https://www.macys.com/shop/product/swarovski-16-silver-tone-marquise-crystal-v-necklace?ID=2451413. It's silver and a bit pricier than I was expecting, but I like the idea of being to try it on with my dress and can return it to the store if I don't like it without much hassle. I'm definitely still open to other options, if you've seen any lovely v shaped necklaces! For the ceremony, I'll be wearing a fur cape/shawl that buttons at the neck (we'll be outside) in lieu of the necklace.
  • I might also buy some returnable statement earrings :halo: so I can see what each look like in person. Maybe once I can see what it looks like, I'll be able to tell if I prefer the necklace or earrings.
  • I absolutely LOVE some of the bracelets posted. I rarely wear bracelets though, so I don't think I'd get enough wear out of the piece. :(2
  • Now that I know Lift and Lock Earring Backs exist, I'm leaning towards some studs now. I'll definitely reach out to Adam at OWD and see what he has in inventory! I also saw these slightly over budget matched shields: https://www.ebay.com/itm/0-89-ctw-M...t-Diamonds-G-SI1-VS2-5-4mm-7-1mm/272408282136, but I have no idea if they are nice or not?
Thanks again to everyone and hope you all had great weekends!!

Your dress is gorgeous!

The shields do not have a certificate so I’d steer away from them, personally, if you were going down the studs route you could have these for the same price, although they are round,

Is there a champagne tint to the bodice of the dress? I can’t tell on my iPad screen. How about some dangly earrings in a lower colour?

I agree with missy! There is so much beautiful sparkle on your bodice that I think no necklace is needed. Some beautiful earrings would be the perfect touch!

As a young Marine I had $300 to spend on a wedding ring. As an older gentleman, I realize what a wonderful gift your Oma and Opa have given you.

You have been given so many wonderful suggestions and spent hours thinking about this. I am guessing that Oma and Opa have been a large part of those thoughts. Sort of warms the heart. Enjoy your search and treasure your final selection for years to come.

Wink

I agree with @missy - your dress is so sparkly, I think a necklace would only compete with it. I vote earrings. I think you could do simple studs or big sparkly fashion jewelry. Either way, I would spend your gift money on a pair of pretty studs! I have no doubt that the studs would become your every day earrings :))

P.S. Your engagement ring is beautiful! I missed your earlier post but just went through the photos. Stunning!

I'd do larger costume chandelier earrings personally. No necklace.

Would love to see pics of what you decide. So excitng!

Just wanted to post a quick update!

I've been wearing different sized studs this week to get a sense of my size preference. So far I've decided that 4mm is too small and 10mm is too big  My favorite studs are 8mm halos. I found a similar pair with old cuts here:
https://www.iceboxjewelry.com/150-05019

I'd be very happy with ~6mm old cut studs, but I think that might be a bit ambitious for my budget :halo: I've reached out to both OWD and Luisa Verling (the designer of my e ring) for 5-6mm matched pairs. Luisa found the stone for my e ring at incredible value, so there's hope! I also love old cut cluster studs- I feel like they're the antique version of the halo.

I'll also post a WTB on the preloved section in case anyone's been thinking about selling!

Here are some other contenders I've found:
- Budget busting Cluster studs: https://www.etsy.com/listing/570817111/victorian-diamond-earrings-in-cluster
- Closer to budget Cluster studs: https://www.1stdibs.com/jewelry/ear...d-flowerhead-victorian-earrings/id-j_3085793/
- Modern cut studs (But I love the fluorescence!) http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/131ctw-l-m-si1-round-diamond-earrings-r1905

After much thought, it's really important to me that I wear what I buy with the gift money from my Oma and Opa on my wedding day. So, if I want the dangly look, I can get some jackets for my studs!! My mom is coming to visit in April, so I'm planning to try ideas while she's here to get mom's thoughts.

As always opinions are welcome and appreciated! And if you've seen any old cut cluster earrings or studs in my budget, please let me know!!!

Will come back with periodic updates, and I promise pictures of the final outcome!

Hi There,
I've been reading your thread with interest & look forward to seeing what you end up deciding on. :-)

I came across a shield-like gem today & thought I'd post the link for you even though I don't suggest it for your wedding day jewelry. It's a soft colour but perhaps a rose gold setting will bring out the pink in the gem. The colored gem section can expand on the qualities of the cutting etc. I'm not an expert, but I do like the shape. I think would make a great sized pendant. ;-)

Picked these up at the post office this morning!!! Absolutely love them!

So pretty! They look fantastic with your ring too! Ear shots please!!!

Love love love your dress.
I’d wear no necklace and statement ie big and blingy earrings.
If you’re keen on a necklace, I’d wear a choker length pearl strand or a fine diamond (CZ) necklace and stud type earrings. Otherwise it starts getting a bit “busy and slightly distracting”.
Your dress is a statement dress - my favourite!

You will love the studs! Thanks for the update!

Here's a quick earshot:20180402_183017.jpg

They were sold to me as 1.86 ctw L/M VS2. I'm getting them appraised tomorrow to get the specs checked out, but they look whiter than my E ring and are eye clean so I'm happy!!! They may have been a bit over budget :halo:
