By the way, the stone looks a LOT darker in incandencent light than it does in the scanned pic. In fact, it could easily be mistaken for a clear red Burma! (not that I''ve seen many of those!)

I feel you should really try to know if the guys are member of any trade or jewellery association, because all have full disclosure as a policy and they don''t seem quite on this line.

Well. Colorchange, the gemologoist had bragged that he had become a member of GIA but who can know for sure?

I would call GIA to check and explain the whole story to them, these guys clearly should not be member of any trade association.

Nice picture, it is pretty. Could you tell us what you paid for this ring?
Those "white sapphires" seem to have a lot of dispersion! I wonder if the are CZ''s though.

Sure has that synthetic flame fusion corundum look, and I agree with Gene that the white stones seem to have more dispersion than white sapphires. Probably cz''s.

I''ll ID the stones for free if you''ll pay the return shipping cost ($35 fedex).

Thank you for your offer Richard! I just sent you an email. If anyone can figure out what "the mystery stone" is, it''s you!

Hi GemNut. I got your email, thanks.

For some reason my replies are not getting through to your email address, so I thought I would answer here.

I would be happy to ID your ring for you. I didn't realize you were in Greece though. Heh heh heh...

Return shipping & handling to Greece would be an additional $90 over the $35 I quoted for U.S. delivery.

I will understand if you don't want to send it, but if you do I'd be happy to do it.

Hi Guys!

I figured if anyone can help me with this, then it''s some of you knowledgeable people :)

A few days ago, a dealer who I know is a reputable gemologist in my area, came out with some fantastic stones. He guarantees that they are mined corundum from Switzerland and Russia and somewhere in Africa I think. They come in all colors, are boindingly beautiful, the clearest ''rubies'' and ''sapphires'' I''ve ever seen, and they sell at 1/10th the cost of regular rubies and sapphires.

He won''t call them rubies or sapphires, but he does guarantee that they are mined corundum.

Has anyone heard of any such finds, and what would this new stuff be? Why would corundum of any kind of such beauty sell at such a low price?

For those of you who are currious as to what was mined in switzerland.

Wallets.

They mined money out of people''s and companies wallets.

This can be highly profitable !

That is why you should all be carefull folks. While I don''t mind helping people make a decent living (even a really good living) - I want them to be doing it from something that seems more ligitimate to me.
