Hello Everyone !!! :)

I have returned from Germany and Switzerland! It was amazing!! I''ll be uploading pictures soon. we have taken sooo many and we need to sort them out :)

But when we were in Switzerland, my hubby did something really sweet... We were hiking in the "Lauterbrunnen" area of Switzerland and we stopped by this river to sit down and talk. He asked me to remove my ring so he could "re-do a proposal" at this wonderful place. My ring was soooooooooooooooo tight that I forced it out of my finger for him to do that.

Then the day after, my rings were sooo tight in the morning and there was little tiny white bumps on the side of my knuckles and they are still there - even after 5 days

I put my rings on and they are DEFINATELY more snug than before... Could I have damaged my knuckle by forcing the ring out? Could it be the higher altitude? Now I am back in NH and yesterday, I drank a lot of liquids and it helped a little and the rings felt a little looser. This morning, I put them back on and they were still pretty snug...

What to do?

Amethyste flying transatlantic always makes my fingers swell up and my ring gets tight. It takes my fingers about a week to go back down, don''t panic just yet!

I have no idea about the white bumps though, hopefully someone else can chime in on what those might be.

That happens to me any time I gain weight or my fingers are too swollen. Give it a few days, then the white bumps will get very dry, then I just sand them down with an emery board, which helps. When your fingers get less swollen it won''t happen any more!

Hm ... do you wear your rings all the time, by any chance? Like, even when you wash your hands? Sometimes you can get a little bacterial infection if you do that ... but that would make it wholly separate from the swelling. If they''re related, I''m stumped! Once the swelling goes down, if the bumps are still there, go to a dermatologist for some cream and steam the jewelry more often. If not ... I''m madly curious as to what causes it/them!

No

I always take off my rings when I take showers or wash dishes or hands... It''s just the sides of my fingers that are swollen like under the joint... my rings, once slid on, are free to move but its to get them over the joint that is painful

The white bumps... I donno what they are...

Can you post a pic of your fingers? Are all your fingers like that or just your ring finger?

Wondering if you might have picked up some kind of tiny mite or bacteria at the river?

Here are some pictures... It's just on my ring finger actually... No other one has this, other than REALLY bad eczema - which no dermatologist can find what is up with me

I used to have pretty hands...

Aging BITES!!!!!!!!

.... And I cannot upload pictures it seems.... "object required" it tells me. I'll have to email the admins...

Before trying to upload a pic make sure it has some random name that PS has never seen before, like 876mlqxpgy5r39.

Next make sure the size of the file is smaller than 100 KB.

Oh, also after telling PS where your file is you have to click on the UPLOAD button on the lower right - if you don't see it on your screen you must scroll down.

Yup...

I did all that. I emailed the mod - we''ll see :)

Maybe you''re allergic to citric acid coming from "Lemony".

Perhpas you should mail it to me.

When I removed my original wedding band after not taking it off for about 10 years it was so tight that I had to force it off. Not only was my skin sore but the joint was sore for several weeks, maybe longer. It hurt when I bent or squeezed it. So yes, you can do some temporary damage to the joint. But it will heal. Next time if your fingers are swollen don't force off the ring.

But it was a cute proposal idea. I guess you said yes!!

(I''m a veterinarian)

As I said before this happens to me too from time to time, white bumps and all. It''s not a bacterial infection, it''s just your skin reacting to the tight ring compressing the skin as it goes over it. It will heal, but it will be swollen for a while. Mine get very dry as they heal, and I just keep them moisturized, and use an emery board to file down the dry parts. It''s really nothing to worry about - it''s simply from the skin compression. :)

THank you all for your replies... My finger is feeling a little better today....
The little bumps are much better too... Hopefully, everything will be back to normal within the week.

I am still puzzled at why I am not able to post pictures...

Glad to hear your finger is healing! I can''t post pics either - probably a server issue.

Amethyste, I just have to say that if for some reason you cant wear all those gorgeous rings you own, I will be HAPPY to literally take them off your hands!!!
They are so drool worthy!!!

Seriously though, hope it goes away soon! Gorgeous rings and travel-you are one lucky girl!!! Hope you post some pics!

Ahhh.. I can post pics now...
See on the sides? It is sooooo huge!!! And it still hurts, this morning, putting them on was a tight!

I circled in green those little bumps I am taling about... They have subsided this morning quite a bit which is nice!

... And the back on my finger on which you can see there was a definite swelling where the skin has a yellow cast to it

I hope I''ll have normal finger one day!

And here is a picture of me on my way to Lauterbrunnen Switzerland in the mountain train... It was such a beautiful day!!!

I have gotten those tiny white bumps before and they are itchy! It''s usually in the summer when my rings get tight (one of the major reasons I recently opted for a much thinner wedding band). Leaving your rings off for a day or so usually helps with the swelling and I use cortisone cream on the bumps. Good news is it won''t last forever!

You and your rings are just beautiful on the train - glad you enjoyed your trip and what a sweet hubby to want to re-propose!

That''s exactly what mine did - looks exactly the same! It will subside, don''t worry, but a few days of not taking the rings on and off will help too.

Those kind look like water blisters or the small bumps that I get from allergies. Steroid creams and cortisone are good for that. I would recommend not wearing any jewelry for a few days while it goes down. If you have a necklace, wear the ring around your neck or switch to the other hand.

Am...

That's what happens to me when I take Ciprofloxin. Over several days my finger gets bumps, then itches then eventually so swollen that it starts shedding (gross) and it looks like a really bad insect bite that I'm reacting to (in fact that's what it was diagnosed the first time I was on it) but it's the antiboitic.

If you are taking an anitboitic... it could be the culprit (as strange as it sounds).

I get those bumps (look almost like mini blisters). It is a skin irritation from harsh soaps... so I have to take my rings off to make sure they are dry- after washing. (love the pic!)

Amethyste - from the pictures of your finger, i think what it might be is a mild case of "Pompholox" or "Dyshidrotic Eczema". here's a linky about symptoms, causes and treatments for it. i hope this helps!

as the others have mentioned, i get those bumps on occasion as well. at work i'm constantly washing glasses in harsh detergent and sanitizer, so i also have to be careful about rinsing and drying my hands thoroughly. i tend to get it more often in the winter time so i make sure that i moisturizing my hands as well.

on another note, your trip sounds amazing and your hubby is so incredibly sweet! i love that picture of you on the train too and i can't wait to see more pics.

ow-that looks so painful! I have got bumps like that under a ring but never on the side of my finger. I do get similar allergy bumps that itch like
crazy if I eat something I am allergic too. Have you tried benedryl cream?
