Synthetic star sapphire marking

I’m pretty sure it’s synthetic but I was wondering if anyone knew the marking on the bottom of it.

Linde stars have an "L." I could not find an image. This looks like a mirror-image double-L.

Just like how all Kashmir sapphires have the tell-tale "K"

I was thinking it was a W or an M.

Wow, that stone's in bad shape.
The star is completely gone. Sad!
Maybe you could have it replaced.

It was my grandfather wedding ring, worn daily for 50 years while he restored dozens of cars. He never took it off for anything.

I can see that it was well loved!
If you don't want to replace the stone for sentimental reasons, you can still have the gold polished up. It will look great!
