Where is the nascar garter from i love love love it! my fiancee is actually a huge earnhardt jr fan and i sooo want to suprise him with that! lol

Ok, I''m going to confess because I''m sure many of you will think our cake topper is tacky but I think it''s adorable. DF loves Looney Tunes and I grew up watching them, too, so when I saw this on eBay I just had to go for it. It will also be a Christmas ornament after the wedding so we''ll always have it on our tree. Keep in mind that we''re having a casual cruise shop wedding and we just want it to be fun and cute. :-)

That's the whole reason why I'm not too fond of this thread. What may be tacky to some, is cute and fun to others. People get wacky, different, and unconventional items for their weddings because they're trying to personalize it to themselves. For example, my cake isn't white (it's dark fudge), my throw garter is in my future hubby's fraternity colors and I'm wearing red ribbon flops (like ballet shoes, but flip flops) under my dress. There's other unconventional things I have in my wedding, but that's just a few examples. Luckily everyone that's seen everything so far has said they think our wedding ideas are unique and fun. I'd hate to one day see something from my wedding in this thread. It would seriously hurt.

Btw, chickflick, I want to see this cake top of yours. It sounds adorable. I actually thought the superman cake topper was cute. My ex's nickname was superman and I'm sure he would've loved that on his groom's cake if we ever went through with the wedding.

aphi- Your shoes sound so cute! Do you have any pictures of them and you you mind saying where you got them? I agree with you about this thread... making fun of other people''s weddings is just as tacky.

I thought I'd attached a pic but something must have happened- let's try this again. Here's my cake topper that I think is cute and fun and totally "us" but I'm sure many of you will find tacky. To each his own; as long as it makes you happy, go for it, no matter what others might say! Aphi, your shoes sound just adorable and I love the personal little touches that make each wedding unique.

Heehee. They say it''s a best seller too!

Scintillating...
I dont know how I feel about it as a wedding dress but that would be such a cute pageant dress for a Miss Teen pageant!

Believe it or not, I actually saw someone wearing the dress with the sheer side cutout in blue- and it looked amazing on her. She wasn''t like Miss **** Star, but had an amazing body and had a great wrap to go with it.

A wedding is when people can do whatever appeals to them and express their personality, however ''interesting'' it is. Others may not like it but hey, to each their own. My mom has been harping on me about how ''un-wedding'' and ''tasteless'' it is not not have a white wedding dress. She''s getting reeeeal close to not being invited.

Oh and my girls would laugh at the shoulder pad dress! I haven''t been that size since about 12.

Matatora---I had to laugh when I saw your post.....I seriously just received one of those rose candles at a wedding a couple weeks ago...needless to say it''s now taking up much needed space in my junk drawer !

It's not a definite choice for my wedding shoes, but if I can't find a pair of red mary-janes or red flip-flops that I like better (I'm really hoping to find some cute mary-janes), I'll stick with these. Here's a picture of them. Sorry, but they might look a little tacky to some. Oh, and please excuse my pedicure. I need to redo it soon.

I actually got the flops a long time ago from Newport News and they had shoe-laces that tie up the ankle instead of ribbon. I was basically forced to wear flops because me and my fiance are the same height and my mother would rather die than have her daughter taller than her son-in-law in their wedding pictures. :)

ETA: Chickflick, I LOVE that cake topper!! It's so adorable!!

I LOVE those shoes!! I don't care if other people think they are tacky. I think they are great. I am about an inch shorter than my fiance and I am stuck in the no high heel place too. Most of the flats for weddings look like old geriatric, orthopedic shoes. I will have to see if I can find some like that. I think the cake topper is cute too. Weddings really should be about the couple and not just how a wedding "should" be. Wouldn't it be boring if every wedding was the exact same?

ETA: I found them... I just might get the pink! Do they make noise when you walk?

The shoes are adorable! They look like they''ll be very comfy, too. I wore the sandals I bought for our wedding to work the other day, just to be sure, and by noon they were OFF! Killing my left big toe. I''m back on the shoe hunt.

Fortunately I''m 5''7" and FI is 6''3" so I could wear stilettos and still be just fine. Oh, to be tall!!

I have to day that I really I do like this thread, just because it shows the differences in expectations and tastes. I would LOVE to have the bod you need to wear some of those dresses, although I still wouldn''t wear them even if I did (have the bod, that is.)
