I am looking at the Tacori 2621ECLGP setting in platinum for my girlfriend. I had a few questions and was hoping to get some opinions on them.

1. As far as quality, is Tacori a "good" designer?
2. Can I take the Tacori picture and have this ring made somewhere?
3. The price quoted by the jeweler was a little higher than I wanted. Can I haggle with them or is shopping around the best approach to get the best price?

Here is the link to the setting:

Thank you very much in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Yes, in my opinion. Some will tell you that at one point, they were turning out some work that was not on par with their previous stuff. I have been wearing my platinum wedding set (see avatar to the left) daily for a year now and have had no problems. No pave falling out, millegrain wearing out, etc. It looks as good as the day I bought it. They are the finest pieces of jewelry I own. If I could afford to, I would have every stone I own set into Tacori platinum. Put Tacori into the search box and read about other people's experiences.

You can, but legally they can't copy exactly and so they probably won't be able to duplicate the design anyway, so why not go to the source?

You can always haggle. You should definitely shop around. I got my set at Collections Fine Jewelry and I think the pricing was very good. 800-779-3207

NICE CHOICE!!!!!!

Hi, I am a satisfied Tacori owner and my answers are above.

Thanks for the input, it is very helpful. In regards to haggling, how much room is there in designer rings for the jewler to move? (not sure about posting prices on this forum, but as you can get it from many websites, the listed price is $7070). How low can I expect them to go (down to $6500 or more like $5000 or lower)? I know many times compaines have minimum prices set for thier products and resellers are not allowed to sell them below that threshold. I am very uneducated in the fine jewelry business and I do not want to make a mistake when making my purchase. Thanks again for your input, and any other feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I love Tacori settings and recently ordered one. From the reviews I have read, the quality is very good and the owners seem to be very pleased.

Although beautiful pieces, IMO the prices are a bit on the expensive side. The setting that we ordered was pricey but no where near the price of $7,000+ that you were quoted (i think our setting was around half the price). If it were me, I would contact Leon to inquire if he can make something similar.

If the list price is $7k I doubt very seriously that any jeweler will go below $5k. As a rule, when I am making offers, I usually don't ask for more than 15% off. Did you call Collections and some other jewelers to at least see what pricing they are giving? The worst they can do is say no to your offer if you choose to make one. Then you have to decide how much you want the ring.

Tacoris are beautiful designs, but you might be just as happy with something else. I know I was very surprised at the price of my platinum Tacori set. It was a lot less than I thought it was going to be so I did not have to haggle at all. Plus Collections let me pay it off and didn't charge me interest, which I would have had to pay if I had used a credit card. So it was a good deal for me all around.

If you are specifically looking for antique designs, you might also want to look at Richard Landi, Kirk Kara (both of which are sold at Collections), Beverley K (sold at Pearlman's). Hope that helps! Here are some links:
