It sounds to me that this girl set you up to make you look like the bad guy. She has to know that you are a blunt person. She obviously knew that her pants were to tight or she wouldn''t have been going around asking people. She knew that if she asked you, you would say something mean.
I dont think she was being mean. I am a uh "bigger girl" I am also a wee bit on the blunt side. But most of the time I will keep it to a minimum becuase I loathe having to apologize when I have hurt someones feelings, and girls never let things go. However I have bought pants before that looked fantastically amzing when I tried them on at 9am prior to having eaten or had anything to drink that day. Then on days when I have class or work and I drink 2liters of water prior to leaving the house all of a sudden my new super spiffy pants dont look so spiffy. I have asked and been told no they are so cute, and eh perhaps a differnt style or by one well loved friend WTF were you thinking? I like the last girls response becuase I feel like I can trust her. I dont have to worry about her not telling me something I need to know. Beside if I didnt want to he answer I would not have asked the question. I think mean is how you interpret it alot of the time. Unless of course someone say..no you are a whale, next time try clothing in your size and you might be able to keep them zipped up" he he (thought it never said it). I also think how you ask the question means alot, there is a world of difference between, what do you think of these pants, how do I look, and do these make me look fat. JMO

Ha ha ha, Mara I just read your post asking why people squeeze themselves into too tight jeans!!
9.gif

I often wonder this myself, I guess it all goes back to what I said earlier - they love the jeans so much, they gotta have em, even if they don''t fit!

I live in a college town, so believe me, I see this happening all the time! Any given day (and especially nights) I see girls walking around the campus with back fat hanging out, thunder thighs in a mini-skirt, boobs drooping in halter tops, bellys flopping over the tops of jeans, etc.
32.gif
I just can''t believe it! Don''t you want to look presentable? Whatever happened to dressy classy? and more importantly, do you not own a full-lenght mirror?! Please by all means, go get one, they are like ten dollars at Target!!

I know that''s mean, but I don''t like being subjected to girl''s whose skin is all over the place. I just don''t get it, you see all those shows on TV where they give tips on how to put together cute, trendy, yet classy outfits. And they are for people of all sizes, big and small. I think that many women who are bigger in size usually do one of two things: they either dress in really tight clothes, or they dress in very baggy clothes; both of which are wrong for them. I don''t think many of these girls realize that you can dress nice even if you have a little extra weight, but it''s all about wearing clothes that FIT properly.....

Well said Irish Eyes!!

I wish the skinny girls would do it too...I dont care how cute or well built you think you are something ought not be worn during the day. Low cut shirt, short skirts, anything that shows your belly is just flat out trashy. It is worse if you figure doesnt support your style of dress but lord people some stuff is slutty on everyone, somethings should only be for clubbing...and something you ought to be shot for. I am so tired of seeing cleavege from either end (skinny or not) bellys and thighs....being heavy makes it gross and being thin makes it skanky.

Honestly I don''t care who wears what...as long as it doesn''t assail my eyeballs at every turn. This includes exposed thongs and rolls of fat over the waistband of jeans. Those are my two biggest icks. I agree with wearing something that FITS...regardless of whether you are heavy or thin..

I saw this on Gawker the other day and figured it was appropriate to this thread...

Friends don''t let friends wear too tight jeans!

Oh thats true! I dont want to know what sort of under garments you have choosen that day. I work with kids so I think I tend to get annoyed more easily. I mean hey these kids are in elementary school they dont need to see that stuff.

I'm afraid to type too much because you never know who could be lurking and reading, but want to say it's very bizarre when you go to ALL family events and cleavage and rounded mid rifs are bursting out everywhere.
14.gif
It's like YUCK! Even my husband has commented that certain family members make him feel very uncomfortable because TOO MUCH is showing. And, once I even discontinued a conversation and walked off mid sentence because the boobs of one relative were popping out.

Yes I agree Matatora, skinny and thin girls need to cover up a little too! Everything you said is right on! I don''t know when or how it started, but alot of girls today dress like they don''t respect themselves and appear desperate. They may as well wear a sign that says '''' Hey boys! Look at me! Look at my boobs, my butt PLEASE! I don''t have any self-confidence and I need you to stare at me so that I feel like I''m worth something!!" It''s very sad!

I LOVE clothes and fashion. Love it. But I learned many years ago that showing only a little skin is infinitely sexier than showing alot. I use the every other rule which is basically this: if you wear jeans or pants, you can wear a lower cut top (provided your boobs aren''t completely hanging out there!), but if you wear a skirt or shorts, wear a top that doesn''t show any cleavage or very little. To me, having a skirt on plus a low cut top is too trashy, I don''t care how nice your body is.

I was hanging out with some of my girlfriends one night and we decided to go to a club. I was wearing slim jeans, pointy-toe heels, a brown off-the shoulder top with a cute thin scarf loosly hung around my neck. It was a super-cute outfit, tasteful, sexy, but definitely not over-the-top. Well, this girl came in to join us, she was a friend of one of my friends. I swear to God she looked like a hooker! She had on a VERY short skirt on (very tight too), black vinyl knee-high boots, a tube top (strapless top) with her boobs about to fall out, huge silver hoop earrings, a ton of makeup and crazy, teased-out hair. I was mortified when she walked in, I''m thinking "who invited the stripper?!". It gets better: she looks at me and says " oh my girlfriend! we''re going to a club!! Loose some clothing!! Why are you dressed like that?!"
20.gif
I just started laughing, rolled my eyes and stood up to leave. I didn''t even acknowledge her. But all I could think of was: " sweetie, look at yourself, you look cheap and trashy! And you''re going to criticize ME?! My right leg is worth more than your entire look right now!"

Needless to say, I felt totally comfortable with myself and my outfit, while she had to tug on her skirt and top all night while she was dancing

ok..mara, I don''t know how you found the Gawker but that is her in the blue top and tight jeans)

That''s MY dress code EXACTLY! I never pair tiny tops with tiny bottoms, it''s always one or the other, ever both.

As for the skanky hooker look, one of my co-workers wears that tuff to WORK (boots and all). Even though our company is really casual, she''s a little bit over the top. She is not that young, about 34, not that toned....recently went from a size 18 to a jiggly size 10, and thinks she''s so HOT now that she''s lost some weight. Most of the employees just raise their eyebrows everytime she comes around. Today she''s wearing black spaghetti tank top, a black and white checkered miniskirt that comes to about mid-thigh and 5 inch platform sandals, which makes her tower at around 6''3"

just wanted to say that I agree with everyone! Please people, wear some clothing!!!

There''s a girl who sits in from of my friends and me in lecture, and every time she gets up we get a lovely view of her butt crack. Often, her short skirt gets pulled up too high or too low. Who needs to dress like that for lecture? She''s not FAT, but on the chubby side... but that doesn''t stop her from showing it all to our whole class. Yuck!

It''s really hard when you''re put on the spot that way. If I were a friend I''d probably tell her outright she wasn''t doing herself any favours. If it were a coworker, I''d probably reply: "You asked the wrong person. I generally prefer loose-fitting clothing so I''m not really a good person to comment on fitted clothes. I will say wear it in the best of health!" I would resent being set up in a position to hurt a person''s feelings; yet on the other hand, I couldn''t bring myself to say they were nice either.

my mulan..really? how do you know?!

I just found that on the Gawker website ... apparently it was a page in the NY Post!

Mara... what I mean to say is that the belly portion of that pic really looked liked my co-worker in her jeans....
