Tanzanite ring

I bought this ring from Andrew Sarosi back in November but never got around to photographing it until today. I don't have any specs on the tanzanite but I'm guessing it's between 2 and 3 carats. The tiny blue stones are irradiated blue diamonds. The metal work is 18k white and yellow gold. The first two pictures were taken earlier this morning before there was really enough sunlight for good photos so they're duller than the ring in real life. The second two photos are pretty accurate.

That is like wearable art. Gorgeous!

Gorgeous!

That is stunning! Did I read somewhere that Andrew passed away this year? If so, what a loss. I've always loved his work.

That is incredible. I love the workmanship. And a very pretty tanzanite too!

At Intergem a few weeks ago, I spent quite a bit of time oogling the jewelry pieces at the Sarosi booth. They have some breathtaking rings.

It's absolutely gorgeous!

That is gorgeous! It makes me think of knights and dragons and castles! It's so Renaissance, very pretty and unique!

I love it! That tanzanite is awesome! The Sarosi stuff is all so high quality and unique... I don't think you can ever go wrong with one of his pieces. I really like the flower on the back of the band.

A completely different look in early morning light, eh? Anyway, I love his work and I love the saturation of that tanzanite. Beautiful!

Just had to add that you have the most amazing jewelry, Kismet!

Oh my g-d kismet how do you find these gorgeous rings? Seriously that is a stunning band!!!!!

Amazing!

I love the color of the sapphire, the really I'd beautiful.

Gorgeous tanzie! The color and cut are unreal. What an incredible ring!!

Exquisite metal work, fantastic colour combination and gorgeous tanzanite. You have some of the most beautiful jewellery on PS that I never tire of looking at.

Gorgeous gorgeous scroll work - so intricate and really sets off the gems. The Tanzanite is lovely and rounds are so uncommon so it's lovely to see one set in a ring.

I can only echo everything above. What a gorgeous piece of jewelry -- materials, workmanship, & stones. I'd never want to take that puppy off!

Thank you all for the very nice comments! I love wearing it. It's amazingly blue most of the time. It does go more violet under fluorescent lights but not a whole lot.

Yes, unfortunately he died in October. According to the women manning the booth, he had been pulling a lot of stones out of his vault and setting the so there was a ton of stuff there that I wanted to buy. From what I understand, his wife is carrying on the business, although with not quite the same jewelry philosophy.

Beautiful! Could you make a guestimate at the mm size of the stone? I have a round Tanzy (unheated - purplish - not bluish) that I would love to set in a similar setting. I love the look of colored stones set in wide bands and this setting looks like it would protect the stone a bit.

The band is about 8mm so I'm guessing the stone is about 7mm.

Yes, he had died the week before I went to Intergem in October. I so wish I had 3k to buy this amazing moonstone ring in rose gold that they had but that's more than I make in a month - I kept lingering over it so they let me take a lot of pictures of it. The moonstone was really the most amazing I'd ever seen. I wonder what the new Sarosi jewelry will look like?

I also heard they set up a commemorative scholarship for people wishing to take the GIA courses. That seems like a nice and appropriate way to remember him and his work.

HI:

Stunning ring!

cheers--Sharon

Sorry to hear about his death. It's good to know his wife is carrying on the business. Andrew's designs have a very recognizable style, so I hope there won't be too many changes.

Absolutely gorgeous!

It is beautiful. Great color of tanzanite too.

That is a beautiful and unique ring. I mean unique in a good way. :)) I love the colour on that Tanz. Any shots of it going violet?

I don't have any shots of it going violet. I have it on today at work and it's slightly more violet than pictured but not a whole lot. It's less violet than I recall it being.

WOW! How did I miss this??? Kismet - what a gorgeous piece of jewelry art!! The detail on that band is incredible! What a gorgeous tanzanite, too! I love that depth of colour--- enjoy - its AWESOME!!!
