Teacher dies on day of retirement

I know that many of us (teachers) are looking forward to our summer vacations and many may even be counting down to retirement! I saw this article this morning and it just broke my heart.

Could you imagine? My heart goes out to her family and friends. It sounds like the community lost a great woman.

How very sad. She had already lost her husband and only child. It sounds like she was much loved by her students and co-workers.

Several years ago something similar happened to one of my co-workers. He loved his job and was so well respected that when he retired -- he was well past retirement age -- his colleauges gave him and his wife a trip to "the old country" to honor him and celebrate his retirement. He died a few days after the retirement party.

what an ironic tragedy. I feel terrible for her family.
