cnspotts, I saw Jamison mattresses online, if that was what you are meaning. A mattress store about 30 minutes from here carries those in latex and memory foam.
Yes, that''s the one.
Have you heard good things about them? I see they make memory foam and latex mattresses. I don''t mind paying for TP if it is the best, but if there are other brands that are as good or better, then I''d choose to pay less! (Thanks Pandora for your info!)

I''ve spent a good bit of time the last couple of days researching mattresses and it is VERY hard to get any kind of consensus on what brands or models are the best...except I was reading about all these elite matteresses in the $12,000 range. And I will tell you now, there is no way I''d spend $12,000 on a mattress!!!!!!

DS, I don''t blame you! $12k for a mattress is ridiculous! Plus I hear you on "VERY hard to get any kind of consensus on what brands or models are the best". That is why I made sure to go with a bed that had a 90-day trial period. Our latex bed was very good about that, and like I said, during the 90-day trial, you could change out cores to change the softness or firmness with no penalty (except like $20 shipping). We love it and I highly recommend it. If you haven''t done so already, you could go to a mattress store and see if they have a latex bed, and see if you like the feel of it. (Likewise with Tempurpedic)

Thanks, OFG! The mattress store we went to had one latex bed. It was too thick for our bed. We have a 4 poster bed which is high anyway. We''ll need low profile box springs definitely. But we can''t handle a 20" top mattress! The TP''s are good because most are not ultra thick, but there is a lot that appeals to me about latex. So we''ll go to the other mattress store that has the Jamison latex mattresses as soon as we can find the time. It is about 40 minutes away. I am hoping we don''t have to spend $3000 on a mattress either!

I hated mine. I need a firm mattress to support my back, but not too firm or else I wind up hurting. I found the Tempurpedic too hard for my tastes. It was OK if I was sleeping on my back, but I'm a flipper and spend half my night on my side, and the other half on my back & it was torture on my side.

My neighbor bought one & she opted for the cheapest/firmest Tempur-pedic (the classic) and wound up having to put egg crate foam & a down featherbed on hers its so hard & hurts her all the time. In fact, sometimes she sleeps in her guest room where she has a cheap $200 mattress she ordered on the phone from Sleep Country before some family visited a few years back & says that is more comfy.

I opted for a Spring Air pillowtop Back Supporter mattress. The only thing I can say is, buy from a place with a 60 to 100 day return guarantee (Sleep Country is 60 days, BedMart is 100). Know that TempurPedic has a $250 restocking fee to return their mattresses, so factor that into your budget. (Its the reason my friend never returned hers, she was too broke after buying it...lol) Returns on other mattresses are either free or $50. It takes about a month to know if you love it or not.

Only one way to find out....go lay on one for about a half hour to an hour (weird I know, but worth it) and then take your favorite home and sleep on it for a month.

Good luck!

Very helpful info, divergrrl! It''s very good to hear the pros and the cons before we go purchase something to sleep on for the next 10-15 years! We''ll definitely have to go to another store and try some other kinds.

The least expensive and firmest TP is the Original, though. The Classic is a step up.

I have a termpurpedic and pillow (get comfortpillow and not the molded ones!), and I LOVE it. When I stay anywhere else I cannot WAIT to get back to my bed! It is seriously addictive.

How funny! I kept my tempurpedic pillow too!!! It is absolute BLISS. I have the molded one though, but it is heaven on my neck and I can''t stand regular pillows anymore. It smooshes down in my suitcase if I''m checking bags, so it travels with me. LOL!

Mine goes traveling too! Haha, people always wonder why I pack so much, its my pillow. I like the comfort one better, but that could be bc my molded one was the wrong "size" (too wide for the distance between my neck and shoulders if that makes sense).

I have decided to order the isform.com version of memory form matress instead of Tempurpedic. I save near $400 for going with this brand. More importantly, many on Epinion.com said isform matress is BETTER than Tempur. My set will arrive in 1-2 weeks and will definately report my findings here! Thanks again for all the feedback!

Our latex bed ...

DS, our mattress isn''t too thick, and in fact it can be thinner; we got an extra layer (which only adds a few inches anyway) that we could have opted not to get. So I know they''re out there. And I can''t recall for sure, but I think ours was about $2000-ish, definitely not $3000. We got a king-size. The first time I encountered a latex bed was in Bloomingdale''s. Definitely too expensive there, but it''s a possible place to at least try one, and I don''t think theirs was too thick either.
