TGT Drops

You know I'm wanting the opal. Hubba hubba

I was hoping I was, but figured I'd be too late. I thought they'd look nice in a 3-stone ring with a tranny I'm buying from Fortekitty (yes, inspired by your ring, Chrono). Ah, well. Good luck!

uh-oh

Chrono, I thought you would be taking the spinel pair

Yeah, guh, I'd be all over a few of those things if I hadn't just bought a several-hundred-dollar Star Trek costume. (But it's, like, REALLY AUTHENTIC LOOKING, GUYS.) I need to have fewer interests.

I wanted to jump on several things, but then justified with a shortcoming in each so didn't bother.

As for you Distracts, LOVE the fact that your eclectic tastes run from fine jewels to Star Trek dress up!

Oh, but I forgot the obvious - I hope everyone gets what they want!

I did think about the spinel pair but dissuaded myself from them because I'd prefer them bluer and a touch more saturated. Whatever the case, I hope at least a PSer gets the rubies even if I don't because I'd love to see pictures of them. And I hope you all get want you want!

Distracts,
A ST costume? Wow, a fellow Trekkie who is really deserving of the name!

I'm not normally a cab person or a red person, but I like the red spinel cab. Didn't ask about it because I should curb the spending.

Saw those rubies and wanted them but looking to get the Benitoite rounds to make a ring for my needn't graduation next year. She's a displaced California girl. Keeping fingers crossed!

I got the email.
I didn't get the rubies.

Woohoo! I'm getting the opal! I wasn't planning on setting an opal if I got one I liked, but now I think I might!

Sooooo....Chrono, are you the winnah? :Up_to_something: Any plans for the rubies, if so? Perhaps some nice earrings? :naughty:

VL, didn't you get the last pair of rubies?

I was third - probably best, as I am supposed to be on a spending freeze due to upcoming renos. ;(

Distracts, I love that a Star Trek outfit won out over gemmies. Awesome.

Athena - wooooot!!

Good, Athena! Pics when you get it.

The rubies tempted me too but decided not. Nothing else really grabbed me this time. Usually I go nuts for a few things in Brad's drops, but now that I'm ready to part w/some shekels, haven't been inspired the last 2 months. Oh well, can keep adding to the cache for whenever something turns up.

I'm keeping an eye open for a rhodolite pair to use as side stones for an amethyst I bought from Brad. May ask around soon.

Whoever got the rubies, fess up if you're here!

--- Laurie

Didn't get what I wanted, but I asked Brad if he has any other such stones in inventory, just in case. :Up_to_something: Guess we still don't know who is the lucky new owner of the rubies.

Athena, congrats on snagging the opal! This one is nicer than the Mik(?) which you returned. Lovely "spotty" PoC.

I was tempted by the spinels, even though they are small. But I can't justify $500...

Oh Very pretty!!!! I really like the lavendar matched pair but wish they were bigger :((

7 x 5 mm is a good size for sidestones or part of a drop earring combo. :naughty:

Killer rubies.

Vapid has been slowly trying to buy up all the matched ruby pairs...color me suspicious.

Indeed, I am trying to dominate the world ruby market one pair of side stones at a time.

The pair that I have is just over 2mm diameter; take that Burma!

Actually when I saw them, I thought that if I got them I would be one stone away from a five stone ring for my sister, who just finalized her divorce, and so has a finger available that for the last 22 years has had a dreadfully dark sapphire. Brad said I was second and that the person who got it isn't 100% sure about it. The chances are slim so I am not looking for the fifth, what would be center stone between 4-5 mm.

Aww, that's a nice idea, VL. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Keep us posted! Then maybe we can help you find a fifth stone. :)

That does sound like this pair would go to very good use. Like benevolent dictators, perhaps there could be benevolent monopolies. Take that, Adam Smith!

I hope you get them, VL.

I feel positively guilty now and thankful I didn't "win" the rubies. VL, I hope you'll get a shot at another pair and spare soon to match the first set for your sister.

That is very sweet of all of you to say.
Chono, I wouldn't want you or anyone to feel guilty for "having won" these or any other stone. My sister's happiness and recovery will be the same with or without. And losing these stones may only open me to the next pair; one never knows. Whoever gets them I hope they enjoy them. That's what it is all about. Besides, with all the stones I've bought I should be able to put together a full on parure for sis if need be!

Got my opal. LOVE IT

:appl: :appl: :appl:

Athena: is that in normal light or low light? What does it look like in outside light? And I keep forgetting to ask, what kind of opal is it?

TIA!

Sparkly confetti! What is the body colour? Is the PoC quick and busy? Looks like it is.

The body color is soft transluscent and yes, the POC is crazy quick and busy.

Minou, these pics are all taken in my office. I haven't even taken it outside yet! I'm such a bad bling owner.

Yes, yes your are. Hand it over.

I ask because I have yet to see a non-black opal come alive in bright daylight, but if there has ever been one that I believe would revel in the sunshine, its yours, given that in every lighting and backdrop so far, it just wants to show off its amazing POC...I'll stay tuned.

That opal is awesome! I don't usually like opals but with that one I can see the appeal!
